Oh we're still only talking about shots that are blocked in the crease? Well I'm not really sure the one or two times that might happen in a game is going to mess with the value of using shots for as indication of offensive pressure.

And it's that sort of cavalier, devil may care attitude that will leave you relegated to the small room of the Sloan Analytics conference.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that but I'm sure it was a compliment.

To go back to what started all this, I'll fine with a defenceman being credited with a blocked shot when he blocks a shot.

Or that one of their better penalty killers is unavailable to the PK.

Yes, in fact, he's so unavailable to the PK that from being 1st in the league among forwards among SH ice time last year at 3:39 a game, this year he's fallen all the way to 1st among forwards at 4:11 a game.

And yet, as a percentage of time that the team spends on the PK, McClement's share has fallen.

Me too. I just don't think that needs to be incompatible with crediting a player with a shot on goal.

It's on mute at a party - how's Liles looked?

meh.

Nothing special but he has led a few rushes which has been nice.  I would actually like to see him in the lineup with Rielly.  If the Leafs are going to continue to play awful defensively, just load up on guys who rush the puck up with speed.  Bring the fast-paced Leafs back.

By like 4 or 5% which seems reasonable considering there's a limit to how much time a guy can play on the PK in a night.

Have liked what I've seen from Liles so far. He should be playing all the time if he's like this.

Leafs with a 2-goal lead.  The Leafs collapse and play defensively (well they stop attempting any offense) in the 3rd period with a lead usually.  So I'm expecting 50-55 shots by the end of this.  Ottawa is at 32 currently.

Help me James Reimer.  You're our only hope.

Everything playing to script.  Leafs with a lead.  Completely stop playing and get horribly outplayed in the 3rd.  Shots are 6-0 so far.  38 and counting.
