Leo Komarov

Interview with Komarov.  Gives some good answers.

It was reported that if you don?t make the Leafs? roster before November, you would go back to Dynamo.

I think it?s more of a speculation rather than an actual thing. Of course, I think Dynamo would take me back. However, I will do my best to crack the lineup over here. If I won?t, I will think about it.

So you?re not planning on going to back midway through the season?

No. So far it?s not on my agenda.

Did you expect something like this to happen? I mean, you knew they don?t exactly like you in Omsk.

I didn?t expect something quite like this to happen. A present like this is dear to any kid who?s into hockey. If I were him, I?d be happy to get anyone?s stick. It?s a great thing! You?d cherish it forever! I mean, it may not be a great gift because it?s Komarov?s stick but still. A hockey stick is a hockey stick.

:D

A guy with reasonable expectations but an eye on future success.  I always liked him as a draft pick so I hope he's successful.

3rd or 4th, I guess. It?s hard to tell, really. Of course, I?d love to play on the first line but it?s going to be difficult for me to get there. It?s not even my goal at this point. There?re going to be much better player than me up there. I?d like to make the team first. I want to be useful for my team. I?ll do whatever my coach tells me.

Komarov tells it like he feels...he's got 'attitude'...

Crosby, meet Leo Komarov

87...solely identified with Crosby in North America, Komarov has chosen it to wear with the farm team, where he finds himself after the NHL lockout delayed his planned launch with the Leafs

n?t really care,? Komarov said Thursday when the Crosby conflict was brought up. ?It?s my choice and it?s my number. I wouldn?t take 99 (Wayne Gretzky), but it doesn?t really matter if you?ve got 87 or 10 or something like that. It?s like whatever, dude.?

He?s got an edge to his game...where his hockey style can be compared more to the bothersome Esa Tikkanen...?I don?t really like (aggravating), but it?s pretty easy to do...

I want to play in the NHL...but now I have to go through this (lockout...I knew that they could send me down or there?s going to be a lockout. I?m going to try my best and we?ll see how far it will go.?

#Leafs new player Leo Komarov is going back to the #KHL to Dynamo without playing a game for Toronto; will stay after the lockout it over.

MOSCOW, November 15 (R-Sport) ? Toronto Maple Leafs forward Leo Komarov will return to Dynamo Moscow in the near future, a spokesman for the KHL team told R-Sport on Thursday.

After winning the Gagarin Cup with Dynamo last season, the Finnish center signed a one-year contract with Toronto, the team that had drafted him in 2006.

When the NHL lockout struck in mid-September, Komarov decided to stay in the North America to play for the AHL affiliate team the Toronto Marlies, and notched up seven points in 11 games.

But now the 25-year-old player wants to return to Russia.

?Leo Komarov is returning to Dynamo, he will probably arrive on Friday,? spokesman Mikhail Kravchenko said. ?He will likely take part in his first match at the start of the next home series.?

Dynamo leads the Western Conference will play its first of three consecutive home games on Tuesday against Vityaz Podolsk.

Komarov scored 80 points in 175 games over three previous seasons with Dynamo.

He also won the world championships with Finland in 2011, and holds dual Finnish-Russian nationality.

That's disappointing news, but not overly surprising when you take into consideration it took them years and years to get him over to North America.  I wonder if there hadn't been the lockout and he made the Leafs out of camp, if he would have stayed.  Guess we'll never know.  :-\

Huh.

Despite reports of an imminent return to the KHL, Leo Komarov is taking part in Marlies practice this morning.

Maybe there's some sort of amicable agreement in place for his return then?
