Lightning @ Leafs - Jan. 28th, 7:00pm - TSN, TSN 1050

@NHL: #HockeyOps explains review of James van Riemsdyk's goal at 15:57 of the 3rd pd. in the @TBLightning/@MapleLeafs game. http://t.co/VVNH2HuOE0

"It was in. Ends."

kadri looked good, during the third I thought he should passed instead of shot, but that is just me. I cant believe there was not a penalty on the Gleason hit. It looked damn awful. Bernier was great. Thank god.

Beat Tampa Bay 3-2, playoff odds up 9.9 to 55.7%

If they go: 12-11 -4, odds of making playoffs: 70.0%
If they go: 11-12 -4, odds of making playoffs: 27.6%

I really hope this team gets on a roll.  Can you imagine having Bozak, Kadri, and Bolland?  All three lines going?  Ah how a win brings out the optimism.

I'm so drunk right now and happy. See, I ain't no jinx.  Had a coworker in from new brunswick so we went out for dinner/drinks. He's a huge Leafs fan too.  I shall sleep now.

Pass it over man!  Good times.... ;D

I doubted a win tonight and was wrong. Sucks to be wrong...

Great win tonight!!

Nice win.  Feels good anytime you beat a top team and have your goaltender shining through at just the right moment.  Good job.

GO LEAFS GO!!!

I don't think I've ever seen more comical shot blocks than since Gleason joined this team. Remember how he was the worst player ever before he even played one game with the team? Lovin' me some Tim Gleason.

Amazing pass by Bozak to set up the GWG. We can all argue about Bozak's role, but man, for a NCAA signing, that guy has become a very good NHL player.

Props as well to Bernier for the win-saving stop. You want a big save at a key moment, that's a big save at a key moment.

The official waving off the JVR goal was priceless. Ah, NHL refs.

If that was a Leaf it would be two games. >:(

I don't, but feel free to link to some proof.

That's kind of my point.  Is there anyone that would take Bishop over Bernier or even Reimer from a current year skill level?  I'm not sure.  If there is general agreement that we are at least equal on a skill front, then there has to be a different reason.

Well, no. Our perception of skill relates at least in part due to performance and even if perception of Bishop heading into this year was that he wasn't the greatest goalie in the world that doesn't mean he can't be having a fantastic season of individual performance. Especially these days where goaltending seems to vary the way it does from year to year.

Saying "their goalie is having a fantastic year" isn't bizarre or controversial when trying to explain why a team is unexpectedly succeeding.

Since the Lupul-Kadri-Kulemin line was reunited against MTL on Jan 18, Nazem Kadri has 3 goals and 6 assists in those 7 games.

They've only been together for 6 games. Still, Kadri has 8 points in those 6 games. Lupul has 5. Kulemin has 3. Really don't know why it took so long to get those guys back together, especially since Carlyle used them as a trio quite a bit last season. But we've got some secondary scoring to go with the big line now and that's been a big reason for the teams current success.

Well, it's not like the second line was ineffective all year. I mean, the number that was thrown around here pretty often was that the Leafs had one of the most productive top 6's in the league and one of the least effective bottom 6's. Given that it's pretty understandable to not want to change things too much at the top.

The Raymond-Kadri-Lupul line was only together for 9 games though when Bozak returned from his injury. And in that time those three had a combined 2 even-strength goals, both coming from Lupul (Lupul had a 3rd that came when playing with Bozak and Kessel).

I'm confused. Are you saying that line was only together for 9 games this year? Because that seems low.
