Good news I guess.  Well Liles is certainly good news.  A good, healthy Army is also but who knows, we've barely seen him play this year.

I really hope Naz will cement a spot on the team soon.

I honestly thought Naz did enough to stay, at least for 3rd line minutes.  I guess not?

I know.

And I understand they are completely different, and its nice to have Browns 'sandpaper' in the lineup, but really, what has he done lately?  Nothing.  Dont even see the guy.  He's probably still playing banged up.

I recognize that having Kadri play 3rd/4th line minutes isn't ideal and probably why they send him down, but I think I'd rather have him playing than Lombardi, Connolly, Brown, and Crabb... plus some PP time.  There are certainly some minutes there to be had.

I think Kadri gets a tad better each NHL showing but still, I'm rather frustrated that he can't play well enough to stick yet. I like parts of what I've seen this year but he just seems to be having a problem putting it all together in terms of being a complete player.

He certainly shows flashes, but I think consistency, game in and out generating chances and playing well is what hurts him right now.  Then again, not sure how much can be expected when you bench a guy for a full 3rd period and OT and then expect him to produce.

Well, I don't think that's on Wilson... I'm sure Eakins hammers home how important it is with all his players to make the most of whatever they're given with the big club.

It's a salary cap thing. He has the biggest cap hit that doesn't have to clear waivers, and, in order to activate both Liles and Armstrong for tonight's game, the Leafs needed to clear some cap space immediately.

To busta's point, how Kadri has been playing (or not playing) might not have been this issue based on the cap implications but I wonder if we may have seen a different roster move had Kadri potted one in last night's shoot-out.

Some part of me still hopes the leafs miss the playoffs.  Because honestly, if we make the playoffs we aren't likely to do well, unless the defense miraculously does a 180 from the 4 previous years, and then RW would still be coach.  This team won't become a consistent eastern contender until Ron Wilson leaves, he is the Mike D'Antoni of the NHL, all the focus is on offense with complete disregard for defense.

Honestly, it's unlikely. Everyone else who may have been considered as a potential demotion candidate has to pass through waivers, meaning the team would not have been able to activate Liles and Armstrong for tonight's game. The only other option would have been to not activate Liles and Armstrong until another player cleared waivers or was traded.

I might have sat on Army. That being said, I guess he needs the ice time now because when healthy, Army can be a great guy to have down the stretch. We need the grit. I also don't object to having army on the 4th line. Yeah, it's not ideal as far as the cap dollars go th have a 3 mil. dollar 4th liner but if Brown or Crabb can produce more offensively, I say give them more minutes than Army right now... Which may be the case anyway.

Always good to see Rosehill not being sent down. What a talent.

Rosehill has to pass through waivers, meaning, he wouldn't have been able to be sent down until tomorrow. In order to activate Liles and Armstrong, cap and roster space had to be cleared today. It's really a pretty simple concept. All of the players that people may want to see sent to the Marlies have to clear waivers first, which prevents the entire purpose of Kadri and Aulie being sent down today. It really is that cut and dry.

Rosehill could have been sent down yesterday, no?

He could have been placed on waivers at noon yesterday if the team had already decided they were going to activate Liles and Armstrong today. My guess is they were planning on keeping them out until Saturday, but last night's collapse changed their mind. The reports as of noon yesterday was that both players would be out for both games against Pittsburgh.

I'm getting really sick of Tim Connolly.

Has he really outplayed Kadri all that much lately?

I mean at least Kadri plays with some intensity.

He has been less than invisible. I forgot he even was playing until that
late (or OT?) missed chance last night.

Rosehill is far too valuable to be cut, he needs to soak up those press box minutes.

Probably doesn't matter much.  Armstrong is about as fragile as they come so Kadri is bound to be back soon.

Truly though, Kadri has been laying people out and playing well.  I don't think Armstrong brings any more to this line-up (except leadership maybe) even when he is healthy.  He Connolly just aren't very good anymore.
