Michalek waived. Leafs claim Ben Smith from Colorado.

I think Lindholm is a hell of a player but that Kesler contract is maybe the worst in the league right now.

Eh. I don't really think the Leafs need Ritchie either.

I might have taken the wrong medication this morning, have I travelled back in time to this board circa March-June 2014?

Imagine the outrage if Nylander had 6 points in his first 39 games.

Lou would have him in his own Robidas Island cabana so quick, his head would spin. ;)

I'm pretty sure that's just for short term stays. Kesler would wind up like one of those Japanese soldiers in the 50's who thinks WW2 is still going on.

We can make him an unofficial coach in our development system, call it "Compete Level Coaching Consultant" and pin some medals on his red, white and blue chest and he'd be golden.

3rd best defensive forward in the league according to idiot, I mean, professional, hockey writers.

Yup. To entice the Leafs to even consider taking on Kesler, they'd basically have to offer up Lindholm as part of the deal and expect nothing in return.

In other words, it's not happening.

Just chimed in to say that there's been some grade-A joking in this thread this AM.  Made me smile.

Lots of reports of the Ducks heavily scouting the Leafs recent games and they will be scouting tonight too.

Whispers of JVR for a dman.

Given Anaheim's cap/Lindholm situation it seems tough to see what move they could make there where they took back money. I could see the Leafs making a move to take on some salary from Anaheim for picks/prospects but other than that...

Fowler for Stuff, say. But then shouldn't the Ducks be scouting the Marlies, not the Leafs? Also, would the Leafs be able to fit Fowler? (LTIR relief would kick in, I'd guess?)

Yeah, I am looking to see if I could think of a 'Cap' trade or 'Hockey' trade but neither look likely.  Lindholm is who I would like as well.  Sign him for 6 years @ $5.5 MIL.

The 'Cap' trade would be a pseudo offer sheet scenario without the barn fight: Leafs 1st 2018, Leafs 2nd 2017 and Leafs 3rd 2018 plus a LW prospect (Leipsic or Johnsson) on the Marlies for Lindholm.

I feel that if Kesler is added then it would be for the purpose of buyout which would be just under $2.5 MIL for 12 years. (Ouch!)  They would need to add a top prospect to the trade.

Hockey trade would be JVR for someone but since they can't do anything without moving salaries there really isn't an option here at all.

Gardiner would be not needed in that scenario of getting Lindhom making him available to be traded with Corrado for Trouba.

on top of that logic...i think there is a league rule against having 2 nude models on the same team....
