Kind of like this from a Montreal perspective.  Use some of their cap and get a good 3rd line player in Armia.

Mason has been placed on waivers to be bought out.

Well, the Habs are helping the Jets sign Stastny by acting as their dumping ground:

To Habs:

Steve Mason
Joel Armia
7th round pick
4th round pick

To Jets:

Simon Bourque

This one is probably major for us but generally quite minor: 1yr deal for Roman Polak with the Stars, after Greg Pateryn signs with Minnesota.

He was probably our best dman in the playoffs this year.  Ok, if not that, not the worst.

A handful of minor ones here:

No Pateryn for you. He's going to the wild.

Former Leafs draft selection that we sent to Montreal in the Grabovski deal. I'm always surprised to see his name pop up since I didn't think he'd amount to anything. His stats don't seem to be anything impressive so a 3-year deal with a $2.25mil AAV seems like a lot.

Apparently Carter Hutton will be going to the Sabres to try and fix their goaltending problems. 3 yrs/2.75 aav.

Always bet on the back-up goalie who put up career-best numbers at the age of 32.
