Nonis using depth to go shopping....

I think the idea was that the Leafs would basically be dumping Mac if there was another deal and/or maybe free up a spot for Kadri? It's not a hockey deal to me but I can understand some of the interest, Clifford is big, young and tough, goes to the net ( at least one of his goals was a pretty sweet shot too ) but to me his skating is a bit suspect and that's not what the Leafs are about these days... same reason Colton couldn't stay up though Clifford seems like a bit better skater than him ( though still top heavy ) but Boyce and more so Crabb have that gear.

I'm hearing a lot about Nash to Toronto again online, and from others around me. Any truth to this?

Consider the source. There's been nothing seriously linking Nash and the Leafs from any real, respected members of the hockey media.

Crazy Bill tweeted a Nash to TO rumor a while back. Maybe that's where it's coming from? I think Nash would be a great fit myself.

If he didn't come with an almost $8M cap hit and an astronomical acquisition cost, I'd agree, but, at those prices, not so much.

What if CBJ took both Connolly and Komisarek in the deal?

We'd all point and laugh?

Yup.  But if CBJ is trading Nash they have to take on some significant money.  No other way to make it work.

Likely never both of those guys, but one of them or one like them? Probably.

I'll say it again: either we acquire Nash at or before the deadline, or else any moves BB makes will be minor.  IOW, it's Nash or nothing, blockbusterwise.

Source?  My infallible innards.

Nash is going to one of those names that's always in the rumour mill because he's the big fish in a small and, so far, unsuccessful pond. He's also one of those guys that isn't going to be moved any time soon unless he asks to be.

I figured it out!!  What needs to happen is Carter AND Nash get traded to the Leafs for Connolly, MacArthur, Kadri and Komisarek.  That balances cap-wise this year.  Next year $3 MIL would have to come off the books to re-sign Grabovski, Kulemin, Gustavsson, Aulie and Franson.

This is the most lopsided trade in history. You'll need at least Lupul going in that deal plus a first round pick and a few prospects. That is a massive, massive trade for CBJ and the best they can do is our scrap heap? Come on.

Ugh are we still paying for Tucker?  When does that end?  Can this be a lesson learned for people who blurt out the BO words again?  I would have thought it would have come off the books already.

The Leafs are too good to be sellers, and not good enough to be buyers.  If there's a deal done, it will be looked at for it's long-term benefits.  Burke has the depth to let Grabs walk.
