In fantasy world, Brown and Ryan now, Suter and a starter in the offseason, pretty please?

I'll sit up even...

They'll be playing the star spangled banner before every Leaf game if that happens.

:)

Does that mean the starter would be Miller?

Edit to add: Maybe the Leafs would have to settle for Schneider instead...

Maybe LA will want a defenceman to replace Johnson for Brown.  :-\ Maybe Brown + for Schenn or maybe Aulie + for Brown?... I don't know.

Add a few pluses to that second proposal and take it away entirely from the first one and you're a little closer.

I was being vague, I know... I just think Schenn might be a little more valuable than Brown (I don't think I'd do it straight up) and Brown is much more valuable than Aulie... I have no idea what the plus(es) would be.

The fact that this whole discussion about Leafs blue line salaries doesn't even touch on the one guy who is returning the worst value per dollar speaks volumes about how BB has hamstrung us.

Schenn is mentioned in this thread so it can't be him, Phaneuf is not worth the 'franchise player' contract he is on yet but I assume you mean Komisarek.

As long as it leads to a Cup parade down Yonge St, I couldn't care less.

How would you feel about adding a red stripe to the jersey? ;)

Brown is a headcase...beware.
Does anyone know if there was an offer made by Burke for Carter? A mid 1st and a struggling JJ doesn't seem like much to give up.

Ott's name has come up here and there... He's a guy on my wish list too albeit a little further down.

Plus he looks like Phil Kessel's meaner twin.

Dreger...

A quality young d-man and solid secondary scorer part of what might land Brown. He's worth it. #TradeCentre

What does he bring that Grabbo doesn't (other than he's a winger?). I mean, you're talking about secondary scoring and we'd be talking about Grabbo who has much better numbers.

There were rumours LA was interested in MacArthur earlier this year. I wouldn't hesitate to trade him and a guy like Aulie. If they want Schenn instead then the Kings would have an issue with the cap I would think.

Brown's scoring potential might be limited, but he does provide everything else the Leafs are looking for and he is on a good contract. Adding him instead of Nash would make it much easier to also get a defenseman and/or goaltender.

A contract hit that's less than $5M a season for a couple of years.

No.

Much more physicality.  Not that Grabo shies away from it or anything, he just can't throw his weight around like Brown can.

Brown is one of the best forecheckers in the league and probably one of the most physical (in terms of checks) wingers in the league.

They are very different players.

I have seen Brown play about 10 times here in Phoenix and I have never seen the physical forchecker that is spoken of.  Most games you barely even notice him on the ice.  This is obviously a small sample size but that's my observations.  Steve Ott I have seen about the same number of times and him I would call a physical player.  He gets under peoples skin and pressures dmen when he is on the ice.  Players panic a little more with puck when Ott is following.

I like Brown but he feels more to me like the finishing piece a contender would pick up right now than a building block type that the Leafs should be focused on.

It depends on the price tag, but I don't see him making a significant enough impact on the Leafs to be the guy who helps us get into the playoffs and not impactful enough to dramatically improve things up front longer-term.

Would be a nice addition but it would take a lot more to turn this team around in the short and long term. I would rather see the assets used in a package for a bigger fish.
