Official 2012-2013 CHL Prospects Thread

Mixed weekend for Garrett Sparks as he started all 3 Guelph games. The Storm defeated London in a shootout on Saturday, but in the other 2 games Sparks got the hook early. He allowed 4 goals in 29 minutes Friday night against Windsor and 6 in 45 minutes against SSM on Sunday.

He's started every game of the season so far for Guelph. It might be time for him to sit for a full game at some point soon.

Rielly is the top scoring defenseman in the WHL, woohoo!

Ladies and Gentlemen you are now free to adjust your expectation-o-metres from "unreasonably high" to "franchise savior".

;D

Ron Wilson may not be able to turn water into wine but Morgan Rielly sure can!

I actually kind of miss that old coot.

someone, a very respected analyst said Reilly is the closest thing to Bobby Orr since the man himself. Can't remember who it was but it was around the time he was drafted. That is high praise to live up to. If he is half an orr he may be able to paddle the loafs canoe

Freudian slip?

I would advise that respected analyst to please refer to Corn Flake's post just above.... :o

I was at the Warrior game again tonight and Rielly played almost ordinary.  He was beaten a couple of times but managed to recover just enough to take away the scoring opportunity.  One thing I was watching is that when he has the puck the other team has great difficulty stripping him of it.  He is pretty slippery and is able to elude the other players or see and make a pass that nobody else could see or make.  It does catch his teammates off-guard at times.  The Warriors lost in a shoot-out tonight.  Rielly had first shot for the Warriors and did what he has done the last few times I've seen him in a shoot-out - got stopped.  He seems either indecisive or uncreative in shoot-outs, which is odd considering the moves he makes when he is out there during the game.  I think he thinks too much during the shoot-out when he is a more-reactive type of player.  No points tonight but had an assist last night.  Another game tomorrow night.  The team is in the second weekend in a row with a three in three weekend.

So should we trade him now?

Following CF's eom's... 'franchise failure'... lucky to get a bucket of pucks for him now, first overall, pffft.

Some team certainly must be able to get Alexandre Daigle to come out of retirement so we can trade for him and Alan Macauley

The 2012 Subway Super Series kicks off tonight in Quebec. Each of Canada's 3 major junior hockey leagues will play the Russian National Junior team twice in the next couple of weeks.

The Leafs have a few prospects who will be involved in the series. Stuart Percy and Joshua Leivo will represent the OHL in both of their games, while Matt Finn will be playing in game 1. Ryan Rupert was named to the OHL's team for game 2, but unfortunately he's out with a shoulder injury. Rielly will be playing in both of the WHL's games.

You can view the schedule here: http://www.subwaysuperseries.ca/schedule/list. All of the games will be aired on Sportsnet. The first action for Leafs prospects will be on Nov. 8th at 7:00pm when Percy, Finn, Leivo and the rest of Team OHL play their first game against the Russian team.
