Official Armchair GM Thread 2014-2015 Leafs

Yeah. I went through a lot of 2nd and 3rd pairing types, and it seemed like 23 was the typical age where they really started to get significant ice time. Most the guys who list there are much higher end guys than Percy was ever expected to become.

Well, if you're drafting between 20-30 nobody who is getting picked is expected to be a first pairing guy. I accept the point that most of those guys are offensive players while Percy really isn't expected to be much in that sense but even still I think a lot of limited upside guys are in the league at that age(our own Tim Gleason, for instance, would fit the mold if I went back an extra year) and that if we're talking about Percy's realistic upside being a second or third pairing type my point is more or less made.

I'm reading McGran's Leafs armchair gm lineup and I'm left believing posters here think through their lineups, outlandish as some are, just a leetle better.

Raymond for 2m? Uh, no. Moulson for 4.25? Nope. Bolland for 4? Nyah... Franson for 3.25? Nyuk... 22 man roster with 102k in cap space that includes Orr? Oi!

I know, it's really bad. I saw that yesterday and didn't even read most of it, just clicked away to another site altogether.

Any roster, fantasy or not, that still includes either McLaren or Orr is seriously flawed. If either of those guys takes a spot from D'Amigo or Ashton, I'm gonna lose it.

Considering what we've seen this off-season, it seems unlikely that the team won't put at least one of them in the line-up.

You're probably right, but a man can dream.

A fourth line consisting of D'Amigo-Holland-Ashton doesn't sound too bad.  Forget Orr or McLaren.  Inserting either of these two misfits will ruin ANY line!

But, as you say, keep on 'dreamin'.

Problem is, right now, that's our 3rd line.

Poor Clarkson.

oh gawd, wait. Unless he's on the 2nd line?

@jonasTSN1050: Carlyle said recently that young Leafs (like Ashton) are going to be given more opportunity ahead. ?That?s our plan."

You can breath Bullfrog.

That just means he could average 8 minutes a night instead of 6.

Or that he won't be a healthy scratch as often.

Heck, he didn't say that these new opportunities would have anything to do with hockey.

An interesting possibility for the Leafs could be Mike Santorelli. Young centre that had a good year in Vancouver.

Another guy on my list. He'd make a good 4th line center, with potential to play up in the line-up a bit.
