Official Ottawa Senators Thread

Standing sections are quite common across rinks in Europe. I regularly stand at games I go to in Berlin on the "fankurve". They have a few guys in among there with drums etc who orchestrate the crowd. The atmosphere is incredible.

I don't think it will work in Ottawa (or north america at all really). It's a different demographic who attend games from my experience.

It seems like cramming it in the upper bowl is pretty much an acknowledgement that it isn't likely to be all that effective.

Suppose a Leafs fan ventured there... oops!  :D

Still not entirely sure how I feel about the Sens upcoming season. This rookie tournament has been promising however. Lazar really looks like he could be a special player and franchise changer.

It's the Sens. You should feel shame, period.

To be honest, a part of me would feel very excited. You're gonna get a very good prospect this season. Yes, I'm insulting your current team but if there was a year to suck this is definitely it.

They couldn't make that less cool sounding if they tried.  Red Scarf Union?

I expect Anderson to have a very good season so that doesn't happen. Embrace mediocrity, sens fans. Embrace it!

Be that as it may I'm still 99.9% sure we're going to finish ahead of the Leafs (again)

I don't think too many people would be all that upset about the Leafs getting the better draft pick, considering very few people expect them to be more than a middle of the pack (at best) team this season.

He's coming off a pretty horrendous season. I'm sure that he'll bounce back a little bit, but I'd imagine he and Lehner will provide fairly average goaltending next season. And the rest of their roster besides Karlsson/Turris/Ryan/MacArthur is very below average. I have them pegged to be a bottom-10 team this season. Which again, isn't a bad position to be in all things considered.

If I've learned anything over the years, it's the the sens are very good at not doing what's expected of them.

And they often guarantee it!

Wasn't really that bad - .925 SV% at ES last season (15th in the league in that regard).  PK SV% killed him but that's something that can vary wildly season to season.

The Sens seem to thrive when they're expected to be bad / average, it's when the expectations are there that they seem to think they don't need to be pesky anymore. For a team that's only missed the playoffs 3 times in the past 15 years they have one of the leagues strongest prospect pool and perhaps the leagues best prospect in Lazar - so if the kids deliver and guys like Zbanejad and Stone continue to improve then we could be a surprising team. But if we mail it in defensively this year and coast effort wise again it will be another long frustrating season. It really could go either way.

FTR Reimer & Bernier is a strong enough goaltending tandem to keep the Leafs out of a top 5 pick. Plus I don't think your management is in the same mindset as some of you, no way the Leafs are in any kind of rebuild or tank period. Acting like it's some sort of accomplishment to finish in the bottom 5 is getting to be a bit of a cop-out people.

You used to be good at this kind of subtle trolling, but I fear your powers have weakened.  ;D
