You don't have to like it, but it happens for a reason.  I didn't see the comments made by Phaneuf/Wilson, but if they're acting confused about the whole affair, they're intentionally playing dumb.  It's gamesmanship.

They can whine about it, but every team does it.

Yeah, pretty much.  I don't think much was said, certainly not anything that needed responding to by Konopka.

In his defence, that article is by Don Brennan.  This is the guy that asked Matt Carkner if he felt responsible for Derek Boogaard's death.  I doubt that statement came unprompted.

Wow, yikes.

Zonopka is a bit of a meatball and yeah in terms of enforcing Carkner is still the man. Zonopka holds on for the ride.

In Konopka's defence he is playing through a back injury. He may not be the best fighter in the league but he sticks up for teammates and he will fight anybody. He is fearless.

Ach, that's terrible RT @HowlingsToday Wade Redden broke his leg and is out 4-6 weeks.

I'm not sure SP would agree that it's terrible though.

Ottawa GM, "You want Filatov?"
Other GM, "Yeah either he's included or there's no deal."
Ottawa GM, "Hmmm, well okay how about this... you let us drop his stock
some first, so fans won't riot when we end up trading him."
Other GM, "Okay, but you better hurry or I'll consider the other offer."
