Official Ottawa Senators Thread

I'm hoping for 6.  I'd be content if they pushed it to at least 6 games.  They're playing a much better team who happen to be the reigning Cup champions and have had our number for years now.  I don't expect them to win, but I want to show they can skate with the champs and stand up to them physically.

That said, I'm not giving up hope.  This team has a lot of young players on it, most of which won a championship in the AHL last season as a lower seed (though they did have an influx of talent at the end of the season).  Young teams like that are very unpredictable, and could just catch fire at the right time.

We may end up playing the Rangers though.  A regulation loss for the Sens combined with Washington snaring 2 points would have the Sens finish the year in 8th.  I don't know if I'm hoping for a loss, but I would much, much rather play the Rags.

Sens in 7 baby - learn it, live it, love it

Some excitement tonight.  If Washington beats the Rangers, they play Boston.  If they lose, Ottawa plays the Bruins.

EDIT: Crap, we also need Florida to get at least one point.  A Washington win with a Florida regulation loss would have all three teams end with 92 points, with Washington in 3rd, Ottawa in 7th and Florida in 8th.

3-0 Caps...SP are you sure the Caps winning tonight wouldn't automatically bump us down to 8th?

The Panthers need to record a point as well.  A Caps win with a Panthers regulation loss would mean they just end up switching spots, since we get the tiebreaker over Florida.

So far so good, Caps up 4-1, Florida up 2-0.

Rangers it is then - no idea what to expect but this should be a great series, honest hockey. I like how we match up against NYR. A series of Torts sound bites - awesome

Neil OK for playoffs: MacLean...

I cannot believe the sens made the playoffs and the leafs finished 5th last.  Looking at the rosters at the beginning of the year, nobody had that (too bad we don't have the data from the old site).

Agreed.  They played better hockey than us after the first month.  Kinda points to coaching and players buying in to working hard.
