Official Ottawa Senators Thread

So a win today clinches a playoff spot.

Twitter is saying that Alfredsson has the flu, and Spezza is attending the birth of his kid.  I can't figure out if it's an April Fool's joke or not, since Spezza's wife has been expecting.

What a move getting Turris has turned out to be so far...Murray!

I thought Rundblad was expendable since Karlsson had broken out and Cowen was contributing.

I thought it was a good deal, isn't Rundblad in the AHL now?

Yeah, he's been up and down with Pheonix too.  That trade will still be judged in a few years though, Rundblad looks supremely talented, he just hasn't been able to put it all together yet.  So far, Turris has definitely been better, and has made a big difference this year, but he's pretty streaky as well.

Cowen has had a disappointing second half though.  He was a good 2nd pairing guy at the beginning of the year, and for like a week when Kuba and Gonchar went down, he played 25+ minutes on the top pairing with Karlsson and looked liked a legit stud.  Since then though, his decision making has been questionable at times, some poor pinches and missed assignments have cost us.  Since the Rundblad trade, our defensive depth has once again become a problem.  Our callups are Borowiecki and Wiercioch, neither of which I think are NHL ready.  Hopefully we don't have injury problems on the blueline in the playoffs.

Have you seen our record since we traded for him?

Pretty much yeah - plus he had and still has project written all over him. It was a bit of a gamble with Turris but PM really pushed Murray for him apparently. He's been chaparoned [SP?] up with Alfie since his arrival too. Who better to straighten the kid out?

Alfredsson: "I guarantee if you do the dishes I'll take you to get some iced cream."

You get the idea
