McCabe is the only D without a minus tonight. Lots of options moving forward haha

Meanwhile, Nylander worst on the team at ?3 at 5v5. It's possible he's just really sad about his buddies, and it will wear off with time.

I know he scored two last game but I miss when Matthews felt like every rush was an inevitable goal

I mean, last year I seriously wouldn't have traded Matthews for McDavid.

How stupid is that?

McDavid is far better. last year I told some Oiler fan buddies the gap wasn't that far off but there's no comparison. Biggest thing for me is McDavid barely takes shifts off where Matthews takes games off. Night and day between the two.

Well, I think you're just wrong about Matthews taking games off.  It's well-documented that he's vastly improved his defensive game and they had a side-by-side comparison to McDavid in a graphic tonight.

But no, the fundamental point is that nobody is anywhere close to McDavid overall.  It's remarkable that one player can be that much better than the rest of the best players in the world.

When your stats show no points, no shots on goal etc for someone making his money that's brutal and it does happen. We criticized his play at times this year a lot of us and maybe injury related but you expect more. He has taken nights off. If you're expecting him to play good D and not produce offensively and you're fine with that sorry I'm not ok with that not at his salary.

When? When do his stats show no points, no shots on goal, etc.

Here's his stats for this season:
https://www.nhl.com/player/auston-matthews-8479318?stats=gamelogs-r-nhl&season=20222023
He had a shot on goal or more in every game but one.

In the one game he didn't get a shot, against Carolina Nov 8th, (the team had 21 total) he got an assist in a 3-1 win that only had one PP.
He also won 61% of his draws (best on both teams)
He got one of his teams two takeaways. One of their 17 hits. And one of their 14 blocked shots.

There has been something wrong with him this year. He was hurt with a sprained knee. I still suspect he's nursing something else - as do many others.

As for this claim of yours:
"When your stats show no points, no shots on goal etc for someone making his money that's brutal and it does happen."

Didn't happen this year. I went back fives seasons. It only happened once against Washington ... during last season when he won the Hart, Rocket & Ted Lindsay trophies.

Samsonov denies Hyman.  I'll give him credit, he's hung in there even though he had a bad game.
