Penguins @ Leafs - Oct. 11th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

The worst game I have seen play in about 5 years.

Bernier, damn weak goal again
Kessel must be looking for a trade.

Damn awful

This was comparable to many efforts over the last 5 years.

It doesn't stand out as any worse than any of the terrible games they've played.

I recall a couple of Boston games over the years that made this look like a Stanley cup final....still brutal nonetheless

3 Obvious Observations

1. The Pittsburgh forward core is a lot better than the Toronto forward core.

2. Bernier isn't good enough.

3. it's gonna be a loooong season.

I like Percy, he's a keeper. What can you say about a flat, middle of the pack team ( generous tonight ) playing a pretty good one on their game? Anywho, hopefully Kessel finds his legs and the team gets it together at some point.

Its early yet. They competed sloppily against the habs, but at least they competed and were in the game.

Tonight was just simply a better team with its superstars who showed up.

Carlyle laying the groundwork to pull Percy from the lineup tomorrow in the post-game presser.

Missed tonight's effort because of kids in a concert, and they have another tomorrow night.  I was thinking of skipping that one to catch the Rags game ... buuuuuutidonthinkso.

It looked like in the 3rd Carlyle played Santorelli, Winnik, Polak and Percy a lot.... the guys who haven't played his system much...

He's never lost to Pittsburgh in regulation and that still didn't do it.

Did you honestly think they were going to be platooned based upon which team each one historically played better against?

Coaches cite a goalies record against another team all the time as a reason for starting him.

Sure, but if you're going forward with Bernier as your #1 you're not going to hide him from teams no matter what his record is against them. If the Leafs sneak into the 8 seed the Penguins could be their first round opponent and then what? Play your back-up because you've give your starter the message that you have no confidence in his ability to beat certain teams?

Bernier has yet to look like a #1 this season. If Reimer has a great game tomorrow, I'm guessing the debate will be back on. Mind you the team in front of Bernier hasn't looked good, but he hasn't done much to help his case.

Edit: 9 GA in 2 games, .876 SV %.............If that were Reimer people would be suggesting he spend time in the AHL. I get it's small sample size and all but it's still concerning.

Sorry, I did mean particularly in back-to-back situations. I don't think Reimer should be starting every game against Pittsburgh this season. But in this situation one goalie was going to play tonight and another tomorrow night. May as well have played the odds a little with Reimer's history.
