Preseason GDT 7: Leafs @ Red Wings W4-3 OT

I really enjoyed the game last night (obviously the result). Battling back from a 2nd period lapse showed good character. I could live with Komi if he played that way regularly and was happy for him getting the winning goal. Kessel still looked a little out of shape, and it's a nice position to be in where there are a few players making the roster decisions difficult.
I am more (cautiously) optimistic about the future of the team than I have been in a few years.

You know Komi, just when I think you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this....AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!

That 3rd goal detroit goal was on Gardiner in my opinion, he just left the puck there in the corner and allowed Zetterberg to take the puck behind the net with speed.

Totally, Komi almost bailed him out too.

The second goal may have deflected off Komi's stick ( I think ) but that whole group was dead tired against fresh Wings.

I'm still holding my breath where Komi is concerned but nice to see him trying and thinking a little better against a pretty good team, if preseason.

Judging by his post game interview last night, he was feeling pretty good with his performance as well. It was very good to see him feeling proud of that, and he was talking all about the team as well, which was also nice to see from him.

I really hope the best for him.

Komi had 12 goals and 46 assists in 361 games before coming to Toronto.  He obviously wasn't ever going to be mistaken for an offensive force.  Nice to hear he scored, but his bread and butter is being a tough-as-nails defensive defenseman.  He's being paid to make life easier for the goalie and his defensive partner.  I'm still not certain if the team is happy about his performance.  Still ranking him as trade-bait.
