Look, this just another inexcusable playoff performance.  Why Treliving burned another year with Keefe is beyond me.  He hasn't shown the slightest indication of outcoaching the other guy in the playoffs.  I swear, it's almost enough to make you want Babcock back.

It?s his severance pay

I don't think either Nylander or Marner can be traded for anything to free up their cap hits
Probably not, but that means you need to change the coaching staff, revamp the D core and try and get a goalie to play with Woll. Sammy is not the guy.

I've said it since a year or two after Babcock's firing, and I'll continue to say it -- the team would have been way further ahead if he were still around.

I'll say this, Lyubushkin had a very good game.  He looked dangerous at least 3 times that I noticed on offense.  Too bad he doesn't have the skill to make it count.
You can get away with that if his partner is the offensive guy...44 hasn't been good offensively.

Not a chance. The guy's an asshole who's shitty to players. You seem to forget what this guy did and how the Leafs were playing when they fired him. Keefe was the right guy at the time and it looks like his time could be over very soon as well.

One thing Keefe almost never does is challenge the team to the press.  He was happy with the effort tonight, that's a good team over there, blah blah blah.

I want them to somehow pull off a Florida again but since they almost certainly won't the silver lining will be a brand-new coaching staff.

Agreed about Babcock. He wouldn?t help this team. His style wore thin pretty quickly, and, based on what happened with him in Columbus, I don?t think he learned anything from the experience.

Not so sure about Keefe. As the interim guy, sure, but I?m not sure he was the right guy beyond that.

Hopefully this is the comment that finally does it, nothing wrong with our effort? Wow.

Cause Treliving came in late, didn't know the team or the staff and deferred to Shanahan when he told Treliving this core and this staff can get it done

I agree with him. To suggest they didn't try isn't true. Now their execution, game plan, adjustments weren't good is a completely different topic.

Anyway not even going to bother watching the 3rd. Have a good night gents.

I stopped at 1-0, I already saw where it was going

I skipped the third, and I'm surprised at how okay I am with them losing this game, this series.  I mean I don't like it, but compared to years past...

It does not appear to be a lack of effort.  It appears as though they are lost.  They play a certain way throughout the season, they get to the playoffs and that style of play doesn't work.  Bieksa touched on it last night.

This is more of a systems / style of play issue.

I definitely felt the same way, watching last night. The Leafs just look lost. They had no idea what to do to combat Boston's structured, collapsing system. Boston installed a system and executed it. Toronto a) appears to have to no system and b) has no idea or plan on how to exploit Boston's. And where Boston was able to exploit Toronto's stagnant, predictable PP; Toronto hasn't been able to change or exploit anything. I really see this as more of an indictment on the Leafs' coaching and "systems" than on any player or group of players in particular

Totally agree. They stop playing their style when things tighten up. Bieksa mentioned they start dumping to puck in. They're not a dump and chase team so why are you playing that way?
We'll see what happens Tuesday.

The thing is I've expected this the entire season. When the fans can see the team isn't good enough why can't management? Same old crap, Shanahan has to go

That?s a coaching issue, for sure. They don?t have backup plans for when their go-to isn?t working - which also saps their confidence and causes issues in other parts of their game, like the PP.
