I stopped watching in the 2nd intermission. Roughly saw the comeback happening through social media but decided I needed to tough it out and accept the team was playing better simply because I wasn't watching. In OT I recreated the exact conditions I watched the last overtime in and the Leafs came through. So, you're welcome all.

And here I thought they were winning because I wore my Marner jersey for the last 3 games...
They are! Don't change a thing! Positive vibes out.....

I watched the whole thing, but I was sorely tempted to bail after that Stamkos skate goal.

The Lightning lost their early game jump as the game wore on, same as they did in game 3. They couldn't keep up the forecheck and we scored juuussst enough to overcome the early hole(s) (similar to how the Leafs have coughed up dominating games in the past). Neither strategy is particularly sustainable.

The line changes need to stick though. The old default has been gameplanned to death.

So despite my bellyaching, I had the game on but started playing a video game just to distract me.

Although my wife and youngest son got into an argument and I had to go deal with my youngest son just before overtime.  My wife paused the game in overtime for me (she's not a monster) but my oldest came out of his room saying "Hey dad the leafs just scored" or something to that effect not knowing that the game was paused or why I was so calm so the whole thing was kind of muted for me.

My middle kid kicked me out of the TV room downstairs early on in the Rangers-Devils game after Hughes scored (an amazing goal btw).  He is a Rangers fan and his exact words were "Dad your cursed.  I am not even kidding right now!!!"

It was just a really wacky night in my house.  So many emotions for a family that does not handle changing emotions well.

The Leafs might have played their worst two games of the season but managed to come out with two wins.

Please change the lines before game 5. This isn't a situation where, 'We won the game so we aren't changing anything.'

They need to play Marner with Tavares.  Johnny plays better with Mitch and Tavares has been really quiet the last 2 games away from Marner.  Matthews and Willy works regardless.  I like the line of Knies-Tavares-Marner

5v5 scoring chances across the two games so far this series where Cooper has had last change:
  • If Matthews / Marner are spread across separate lines, the Leafs as a whole are 17 scoring chances for vs. 21 against
  • If Matthews + Marner are on a single line, the Leafs as a whole are 28 scoring chances for vs. 62 against

Spread the wealth!

Last change definitely seemed to be a big factor in the first 2 periods of the games in Tampa, for sure. Less so in the 3rd periods and OT, though, when it seemed like A) Tampa started to run out of steam a little and B) Keefe made some lineup adjustments. Will definitely be interesting to see how the Leafs having last change impacts things, if at all.

If the Leafs come out playing like they did in Game 2 (and the 3rd period and OT last night), the series ends on Thursday.

I kmow it didn't seem like it because of the 2 goals given up in the 2nd, but the performance was much better.

The Leafs actually have 70 xGF% in the 2nd
