Why do you say house money? I mean you don't think it's cup or bust? Do you think the Cup window will be open for a while?

Winning a playoff round has put them in my good graces for now. I think this is something they can build on for next year regardless of how this series goes.

I agree that they will have a chance to be better next year, but I worry about the year after. This year could be their best, or second-best, chance to win for a while. I know I'm a pessimist, hard not to be these days.

This is the year. This is it.  If management was smart, they would start a rebuild and trade Matthews, Marner, Nylander while they have another year or two on their contracts.  This is their prime, and if this collection can't get it done this year, then the probability of them doing it next year or the year after gets worse.  Nylander is 27, Marner 26, Matthews 25.  This is their prime, they won't get much better than they are right now.

I'm honestly not expecting Bennett to get any supplemental discipline because of George Parros but I absolutely guarantee if a Leafs player did what he did the announcement already would have come out.

Based on other suspensions handed out by the NHL Bennett should get 1 game for the hit to the head of Knies and 1 game for the crosscheck to the head of Bunting, but consistency isn't the league's forte.

That'll teach him.

Consistently inconsistent.

Consistently consistent with how DOPS has handled the Leafs with Parros in charge though.  I'm pretty sure Bunting gets a suspension

Whatcha looking at bud? Ref couldn't have been in a better spot.

I'm not ready to go that far but it's not a ridiculous idea.

Earlier I posted that we can never get back the blown opportunities of recent playoffs past.  This SHOULD have been the year that they would be working on their second or third beyond-R1 run into the post-season.  Instead, they are still "finding their way" or whatever. *eyeroll*

If they get swept or flushed 4-1 by Florida then I think anything and everything could be on the table, short of trading Matthews / Marner ? that won't and shouldn't happen.  Personally, if they can't get past this round I'd like to see a new coach at minimum.

The trouble with a rebuild is that, best-case, you might have a Hart Trophy winner and a Selke candidate on the roster X years from now.

We definitely need to dump one of the big 4 contracts and get a goalie, unless Woll turns out to be a Rask or Roy this team has no chance.

And nothing for this:

Re-watching that, how is grabbing Knies and Rock Bottoming him into a concussion a legal play?

Ok I'm officially pissed off, Bennett fined 5 grand for the crosscheck but no actions for intentionally giving Knies a concussion? Are you effing kidding me? NHL is a joke!!

🤷

I mean the first contact could be on Knies, but either way that move at the end is beyond dangerous.

I may be a party of one, and I just read the MLHS outrage column too, but looks to me like Bennett just got hung up on Knies and they went down.  I don't see any "slamming."  It does look he kind of punched Knies with his other hand before they went down, however, maybe adding to the overall instability.

To me this looks like a more obvious intent to injure than Bunting.  I can?t help but have my impression the league is biased against Toronto reinforced.
