Not 100 per cent yet but looks like Nathan Horton will NOT be back with BOS. B's talking trade and Tyler Seguin's name has been discussed.

That's interesting. Why would they entertain a Seguin trade I wonder?

Cause he's a major league scumbag!

Maybe that's it?

Kind of an odd thing to throw out there if there's any truth to him being on the block.

Yeah it is. Maybe he's just sending Seguin a big time message? Trade rumours, then a personal thing. If Tyler doesn't respond, traded...

Yeah, seems like a kick in the ass, one shade of that reminds me of what LA did with Dustin Brown so, could be.

There will always be teams willing to take a chance on a talented player with character issues. It doesn't really diminish his trade value.

Sources MLSE boss Tim Leiweke and Wayne Gretzky have had recent conversations about Gretzky joining the sports empire in an exec capacity...

That would be awesome to have him on board.

You know, on the whole with this "allowed to negotiate before July 5th" thing I figured more rumors would pop up.

Definitely sending Seguin a message... because now that he's going from ELC to 6 million a year, the expectations have also gotten a lot higher. And this probably has to do with his off-ice behaviour.

Did I imagine it or was there an (knee?) injury problem that will flare up with Seguin in the medium and long term?

It was his hip I think.

I think between the fact that it's kind of a new thing for the NHL and that so many teams are looking to shed salary or already project to be tight up against the cap once they get their RFAs signed, we probably have a situation where teams are still really just feelings things out right now rather than engaging in a lot of serious negotiations.

With this new 'basketball style' of free agency, I'm pretty sure some of the guys have already agreed to terms but I'm rather surprised we haven't heard about any.

The fact that we haven't heard anything yet actually makes me think that not a lot of guys have agreed to terms yet - and certainly none of the notable guys on the market have. Like I said and as cw pointed out, there aren't a lot of spots or a lot of cap dollars out there right now, and a good number of teams are still hoping to shed some salary before they start adding. This is shaping up to be a bad summer to be a UFA.

The Leafs are at a NHL low 13 players signed for next season. Being in that position this summer might work out well for them in terms of getting a good bang for their buck.

The other thing is that there seem to be about six teams in on a bunch of players when you know any given team can only afford one or so before they run out of cap space. So they'll be some over payment in the Friday/Saturday frenzy and then the GMs and players will have to face the sobering situation of most of the excess money being spent.

Dregs...

Leafs would love to add Scuderi to their blueline. All around solid d-man. Sounds like Leafs are Scuderi's top ufa choice. #TSN

Well, if the Leafs would love to add him and the Leafs are his top choice, then it seems inevitable.
