Eager and ready for the Blue & White.

A very likeable fellow both on and off the ice by his teammates, plus a guy who thinks the world of the Leafs organization.

Said it earlier in the season. He was our best defensemen first stint up with the club. No idea why they sent him down. Why Marincin is up and he wasn't is beyond me.
I would call up Lilly and play both and take their chances for the rest of the year. Can't be any worse than the regulars we've had up to now.
Let them get some experience. If it works out great if not they get some valuable experience for next year and we can get rid of any or all of Ceci, Barrie, Muzzin and Marincin.
Hear they're talking contract with Muzzin. Not crazy about him either as I think he's too slow but at least he plays with a bit of an edge. Fine sign him trade the others rather than losing them for nothing. Maybe sign Pietrangelo in the off season and cap saved can look for a decent backup.

7 Dmen Pietrangelo, Dermott, Reilly, Lilly, Holl, Sandin, Muzzin

Beyond me as well.

Really liked what I saw in Sandin and Liljegren should also shine as well.  No one?s expecting these youngsters to play to perfection, but with time they can only improve more and more.

Now, as for Marincin, Ceci....

I think the answer is pretty simple that they didn't want to rush him. Not hard to see that.

Saying that defensemen can't be worse than the guys on the Leafs, a team that isn't the worst defensive team in the league by any measurable definition, is just catastrophically useless nonsense.

Give it a year and a few turn overs and I'm sure people will be trying to run him out of town.

Nothing in the world will ever be funnier than the sequence of:

"We need a real #1 stud defenseman who plays physical. Dion Phaneuf scores goals and crushes people in open ice, like a real #1"

(10 games of watching Phaneuf actually play hockey)

"Phaneuf's slow! He sometimes gets beaten to the net! They didn't show that in the highlight reels! Reeeeeeeeeee!"

Sandin was better served playing top pairing minutes (and power play time) on the Marlies than bottom pairing minutes on the Leafs. Keep in mind, Sandin is still a teenager.

Now, with half a season under his belt, he might be ready for increased minutes with the big club.

I would agree with that but in the games he did play he was the best guy out there. I understand it was a small sample but I don't think he was a bottom pairing guy.
Easily have played second pairing minutes.
I think it was around the time he was sent down he took a hit and was cut wasn't a major cut but after that the decision was made and he was sent down.
Don't think that was the only reason but I remember them talking about that hit.
Watching this team and the way Ceci, Barrie started the season, Marincin not even going there and the way Reilly played early on I just don't get why he didn't stick.
If it is a contract thing so be it but in my honest opinion he should have stayed up.

Easier to watch a rookie make mistakes than watching seasoned veterans like Barrie, Reilly,  Ceci play like crap and a lot cheaper.
Sandin will make mistakes no doubt. Maybe even cost us some games but so do all the guys I've mentioned and he comes a lot cheaper where the money could be used elsewhere.

Agreed. I know it's only been one game, but I think Sandin played much better on Tuesday than he did in any of the games he played at the beginning of the season. The time spent with the Marlies and at the WJC really seems to have helped him get that last bit of poise and polish he needed, as well as a nice boost to his confidence level.

Can we petition to have him wear 13 just so I can be quickly fooled into thinking I?m seeing the name sundin on the ice again?

Not that it really matters but I don't see a big difference.

I'm 100% on board.
Wasn't it retired with all the other good numbers?  Man I don't agree with retiring numbers at all.  Now we will have to move to morse code or strange Prince like symbols.
