Rookie Tournament

They told me 6:30pm start...what in the hell is going on here?

It's the same damn time zone.

Not pleased.

This is a very dark camera.

I like how Duszak looks with the puck so far.
Hollowell and Kivihalme as a pair are pretty solid, but then again they are quite a bit older.

I had to step out to pick up the lady, so I missed everything after a bit of the first, but it looks like the Maybe Leafs took over this game.

Given the coaching staff and the bulk of the line up, the Maybe Leafs played a lot like the Marlies: mobile defense, straight forward neutral zone transition (quick quick quick), and then water bugs scattering and weaving through the OZ blue line looking for east west set ups.

Conrad, Robertson, Kivihalme, Hollowell, and latter half Scott with good showings.

In case you?re like me and forgot they played this afternoon.

Brazeau can really shoot. For a big guy, he moves very ?quietly? on the ice and is always hovering between the dots drifting into passing lanes (a la Matthews).

Korshkov doesn?t have the traditional playmaker build but really uses his reach to swing pucks into the right places.

Robertson is as advertised. Like Johnsson but... more.

I?ve liked what I?ve seen of Colt Conrad so far and I?m interested to see how he fares on the Marlies.

I wasn?t sure how the defense would fare today with what looks to be the B/Cs other than Duszak, but it didn?t seem to affect them.

Nice to see so many intriguing prospects, Kivihalme seems very good, Duzak may get to the bigs at some point, Brazeau and Elynuik are big guys with talent.  Robertson is going to be top 6 in two to three years for sure.

Leafs site doesn?t seem to have the stream but the Red Wings site does.

Never mind

SDA ties the game picking a corner.

Taro Hirose restores the lead.

Teemu Kivihalme strips Seider (?) off the rush and takes it end to end for the tie game.

Robertson with another goal (late PP) at the first period buzzer. 4 goals in his three games at this tourney.

After one period of play: Robertson, Conrad, Elyunik, Kivihalme, Hollowell working well

Seider for the Red Wings has been really good as well, but his undisciplined behaviour away from the play has cost them the lead going into the second.

For such a weak prospect pool with a lot of low picks these past three seasons (zero 1st rd picks at this tourney), most of whom have only played 1 AHL season, the Leafs are more than holding their own.

Kivihalme extends the lead off a tip off a Red Wing.

Toronto?s been getting a lot of sticks on passes and forcing turnovers in transition all game and forcing the play into the OZ. SDA is playing some PK and his quick hands are holding him in good stead.

Red wings trying to get under the Leafs? skins but they?re just laughing and working. Red Wing commentators doing their best to keep their spirits up. They?re short handed on the backend after losing one of their top D to a presumed concussion (he tried to stand up Estephan at his own blue line but got blown up).
