Seattle Expansion Draft

This is also pretty funny in that it sort of re-enforces what everyone knew about the Habs this year. They weren't "built for the playoffs" and Price isn't some wizard who just magically gets better when the chips are down. They went on a lucky run which doesn't change that everyone, Montreal included, knows that Price's deal is not a very good one long term.

With all the financial and cap ramifications, I think it?s a pretty strong bet Seattle passes on him.

I hope Seattle takes him just for the chaos of it all, but I'm guessing they see how bad that contract is and stick with their original plan of a platoon with Driedger+someone else.

I mean, why would they protect an impending UFA?
I literally thought the same thing. Why would Seattle take Landeskog if he had no intention of signing there? On the flipside they could conceivably take a different player from the Avs and snag Landeskog as a free agent anyway.

Ok Unless Seattle said they want Dermott or Kerfoot and plan to take them already. Why trade for McCann and potentially lose assets

Certainly points to there being a deal of some kind with Seattle.

It certainly better be.  Hallander isn?t anything amazing but our prospect depth sucks and giving up assets while also losing things seems kind of counter productive to the lack of depth in the organization

If Seattle takes McCann, it's like the Leafs lost Hallander and a 7th in the draft. Better and losing Kerfoot for nothing I suppose.

Because you get a replacement for Kerfoot if they go that way. If Seattle takes McCann the Leafs essentially get to keep their roster and only lose Hallander and a 7th. It's a pretty smart move by Dubas.

If Seattle takes McCann, then the leafs lost Hallander and 7th to expansion rather than Kerfoot, Holl or Dermott.

Whoever they keep in the expansion draft if Seattle take McCann is effectively part of the return for the assets.

Decent roster there.

Not listed here - Alex Ovechkin. There?s no way he signs with Seattle, but it would be hilarious if they took him.
