Boston 2 Chicago O Boston leads series 2 games to 1.
Talk about 'perfection'. The Bruins game strategy must have been to 'suffocate' Chicago's offence, no, wait, make that a 'stranglehold' for want of a better description, giving the 'Hawks forwards such as Toews, Kane, Sharp, et al., very little leeway in their passing & shooting game. It certainly made Boston's goaltender Tukka Rask's job that much easier.
In short, the Bruins attempt at shot-blocking as well as bottting up the 'Hawks in the neutral zone proved quite successful. In these last two games (Game 3 & 4), it's as if the Bruins have become too much for the 'Hawks to handle, Or, it's a case of Boston coach Claude Julien outcoaching Chicago's Joel Quenneville.
Whatever. The Blackhawks need to solve Boston and fast, too. The absense of Chicago's Marian Hossa on the forward line certainly didn't help their cause. (Hossa was a last-minute line-up scratch due to "upper body injury"),
The 'Hawks did create offensive pressure with the empty net and hit the post/crossbar in the process. That's about the closest they ever came to scoring for the whole game. Chicago did have it's chances at the outset of the game, with several powerplays, but couldn't muster much of anything. In fact, the 'Hawks powerplay is a measly O for 11 in this Stanley Cup Final so far. If it wasn't for netminder Corey Crawford's continued excellent play, the Bruins could have racked up a higher total. As all could see, this was Boston's night.
Over to you, Chicago.
