Stanley Cup Final: Tampa Bay Lightning (2) vs. Dallas Stars (3)

Interesting tidbit. Rangers get hit with a 6 mill cap hit this coming year for his buyout. They also have another mill for Girardi.

I like Shattenkirk's game. Seems to me the Leafs should have interest.
Really? I don't think he's very good at all. Dallas' 2nd goal in game 2 was his fault. He put Dallas' 2nd goal in his own net this game, then took a penalty after that. Not a fan of him at all.

He literally cannot skate backwards

So maybe a replacement for Willy on the wing when we trade him?  ;D

Haha.  No.  Willy isn't going anywhere.

My eye test is unparalleled.

There's actually another Leafs defenseman already in the system no one really talks about that's intriguing to me, based on a whopping two games worth of watching exhibition games last season. That's how good I am. And he's not swedish.

Nope. But for the record, I'm talking like 3rd pairing potential displacing Marincin, not a partner for Reilly.

Nope! But I'll give you a hint. His name sounds like there should be more than one of him.

I'm all for Tampa closing this one out, and they honestly deserve the Cup for how good a team they are.  But, out of sheer random impulse, I feel like pointing out how freaking lucky in so many ways that Tampa was when they won the Cup in 2004.

1) In the entire 2003-04 season, they lost 20 man-games to injury. No, that is not a typo: 20 man-games.Their top 6 scorers played either 81 or 82 games that year. In their 23 playoff games, their top 10 scorers collectively missed 4 man-games to injury.  That is insanely healthy.

2) They racked up points in the Southeast Division, winning the Eastern Conference #1 seed.  The Southeast Division was historically bad. Tampa picked up 106 points that year. The second best team, Atlanta, in the Southeast picked up 78 points, good for 10th in the conference. For perspective, Buffalo was the last place team in the Leafs' Northeast Division, and they finished 7 points ahead of Atlanta.

3) They got to play the #8 seed in the first round, the #7 seed in the second round, and the #5 points-getter (but #3 seed because of winning their division) in the third round. They played the #6 Western Conference seed Calgary in the finals.

4) Their top player and Hart/Art Ross winner, Martin St. Louis, was acquired as a UFA after being **bought out** three years earlier by... who was it??... oh yeah, it was the Calgary Flames franchise that they beat in the Cup Finals.  I mean, c'mon.

It's a weird year. The top team in the league points-wise didn't have a 70 point scorer. San Jose had 104 points and were the #2 seed in the West and didn't have a 60 point scorer.

That's pretty crazy that Detroit didn't have a 70 point scorer, given that they were #2 in GF across the league.

That wacky season led into a lockout followed by the Crosby lottery.

He?s the next Justin Holl
He Rubins is 6'4" and 220 all day long and can skate for a big fellow.  Has shown very good progress over the last 2 years.. Lets hope he can do 3rd pairing duty at some point.  Lehtonen is getting very good Mirtle reviews and may surprise us by being able to play higher up than 3rd pairing.
