I don't know if that's true, especially not on the basis of one year of Selke voting. That year Alfredsson only got 24 seconds a night more in SH ice time than Sundin did. Alfredsson scored a lot of points that year and scored a bunch of short handed goals and I think those are things that unduly sway Selke voters while having nothing to do with a forward's defensive abilities. If Alfredsson had gotten repeated selke consideration...sure but Sundin killed penalties, was great on the draw...I don't think there's a nickel's difference there.
