Sundin update

Alfredsson was the better defensive player though; he did get 3rd in Selke voting one year.

I don't know if that's true, especially not on the basis of one year of Selke voting. That year Alfredsson only got 24 seconds a night more in SH ice time than Sundin did. Alfredsson scored a lot of points that year and scored a bunch of short handed goals and I think those are things that unduly sway Selke voters while having nothing to do with a forward's defensive abilities. If Alfredsson had gotten repeated selke consideration...sure but Sundin killed penalties, was great on the draw...I don't think there's a nickel's difference there.

Perhaps I'm underrating Sundin's defensive game, but I've always been impressed with Alfredsson's defensive game.

Completely unrelated to Alfy being a HOFer or not, I've really come to understand what a class act he is. - Quite like Mats.

I think they're both good, not great. B/B- as far as it goes.

Hitting Darcy from behind and slapping the puck at Scott Niedermayer aside...

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?  ;)

Sweet.  I've budgeted to try and go to a game every other year and randomly picked this one.

Have to say, it got me a little when Mats was talking about the fans and said "They have..." before correcting himself and changing it to "We have the greatest fans in Toronto".

I think he's earned the right to use that collective noun for as long as he'd like.

For sure. I caught that in the interview also. I wish he was around even more.

It was great to see Mats again.  I can just imagine him in the shootout.  He'd be magnificent, as always.  All the best in life to him.
