It was on some random site called bluetoro.ca, and they have since removed the entire post, so you can bet how reliable it is.

Yeah but what's with McKenzie and now Simmons commenting on it?  Why would they bother, just for ratings?

Crazy that these actual journalists / tv personalities now report on what blog sites post.

And then criticize those blogs in their article.  Bite the hand that just fed you.

Ironical that the king of spouting hearsay and unfounded rumors is criticizing blogs and twitter for their unfounded rumors.

Probably.  Maybe they were flooded with twitter questions about it and thought it was a good way to get some Leafs-related talk in.

That's more likely why. They were all likely flooded with crap about it, and felt it was easier to address everyone at once.

.. and this is now erupting on twitter into a MSM vs. everyone else war, of course with Simmons right in the middle of it.

MSM?  - oh "Mainstream Media"?

I hadn't even heard of these rumours until McKenzie denied them.

Same here, that's the only reason I brought it up, it was mentioned by mainstream media and seemed to come totally out of left field.

And people used to ream JFJ for refusing to comment on rumors.

I flipped through TVO's schedule for the night and apparently just missed Brian on The Agenda in a segment called 'The Business of Hockey'. Should be replayed at 11 for any that are interested.

Thanks for that, I know the guy is loathed by some, but personally I have the same type of affinity for him that I did Pat Quinn. Hearing him talk at length like this gives me a real sense that somehow he's going to work it out here, I beleve the guy.

I agree with your entire post.  I could be mistaken, but hasn't Burke mentioned in the past that he learned a lot from Pat Quinn?

Excellent and insightful interview. Thanks for sharing!

The only thing that bothers me is his "entertainment business" shtick. Nothing is more entertaining than wins, even if that means boring "trap" hockey.

I think he was referring more to the competition he faces for people's entertainment dollars, which he is correct about. Part of his job is to steal away dollars that may be going toward a movie, theatre or concert, and instead get those same people to come see a Leaf game instead.

I have a man crush on Brian Burke.  Much the same I had/have for Pat Quinn.
