The Marlies In Context - A Playoff Primer

I can't believe I'm saying this, and I know that it wouldn't change the goaltending troubles, but maybe play Matt Frattin in game 4? Has 19 points in 18 AHL playoff games. I'd even throw Lindberg and Gauthier in there. Get some fresh (and big) bodies in there.

If there is a singular take away from this playoff run, it's the fact that goaltending needs to be seriously addressed for both the Marlies and the Leafs moving forward. Tonight's game just emphasized that fact with a bold, underlined capatilized red flashing message. GET BETTER GOALTENDING!

Ok. I can't get it to flash lol

On the plus side, it looks like the pick from the Reimer deal is going to be upgraded.

Judging by San Jose's "Get Ready for This" goal song, I'm assuming that draft pick will be for the 1992 NHL draft.

The 2018 draft is shaping up to be one my grandkids will really enjoy.

This Marlies squad have been known this season as a team of improbable comebacks. Winning 4 straight to advance to the Calder Cup final would be an astounding feat.

Anything is possible I suppose, but I can't imagine what the odds would be for that to happen. It has to start with one win in one game. Then hope for a major momentum swing in their favor the rest of the way.

I wonder if Babcock has been asked his opinion on how to play this Hersey team?

Keefe said that he's been in regular contact with Babcock throughout the playoffs, so probably. Although it's not as if Babcock has seen a lot of Hersey Bears hockey.

This series has been decided by goaltending, and the Marlies don't have it. That said, I wonder if Kasimir Kaskisuo gets the start tonight? I'm not even sure he's eligible, but it's clear the Marlies need something to shake things up - like maybe .900+ goaltending?

Edit: Bibeau gets the start tonight.  :-\

So I haven't watched much of this series so far, but are the rules different in this league? Apparently you can just trap a stick under your arm directly in front of the net in plain view of the refs.

So, you know how NHL refs kinda suck?

Well, it turns out they are the cream of the crop and the AHL has a bunch of dinosaurs who think it's still 1976 come playoff time.
