The Official Gaming Thread

I liked Fallout 3. The series has a great atmosphere and sense of story that they maintained really well through the game.

That said I found it a lot like Oblivion where the combat was pretty sloppy and the way they scaled the difficulty of the monsters was kind of counter-productive.

I realize I'm probably a few years behind on this but Fallout 3 is awesome

New Vegas is good too.

Love Fallout 3 as well, but Skyrim really expanded on that genre since then imo.

Vegas is in the cue & Skyrim after that - borrowed a bunch of games off my buddy.
I'm a real gypsy when it comes to buying games - I basically buy 1 game a year.

An air conditioned gypsy

I prefer the setting that Fallout takes place in.

True, but they're very different in that sense. I am a huge fan of the wasteland though, it's a lot dirtier and gritty. I still have to play New Vegas. Hopefully they patched up the game on the PC since the original release.

Any fans of the Silent Hill franchise here?

I just started playing the newest game and it is everything I expected and more.
Yes, me!  I've been a huge fan of all the Silent Hill games since the very first one.  I pre-ordered Downpour but haven't had the time to start it yet, it's still sitting on my shelf.  Glad to hear you're enjoying it.  Everything I've seen and heard about it so far makes me pretty sure I will too.

I've played maybe an hour total so far on my 46" HDTV ... Excellent!

I recently went back to World Of Warcraft after a 2 1/2 year hiatus. A buddy sent me a Scroll of Resurrection. So I was given Cataclysm free, 1 character upgraded to level 80 free, starter level 80 gear, 4 new 20 slot bags etc....

I can't believe all the changes in the game since the last time I played. It used to be such a chore to level (60 - 70 was a nightmare)... But I've already levelled from 80-85 (took me just over 1 week), all my gear was 232 item level with the free gear, now I'm at 352 item level, 1 more item level point and I can do every heroic Dungeon / raid. I haven't had to grind out any mats yet (yay!) and I've made over 7k in gold.... I'm a NE Hunter - BM Spec... Yay! I don't have to keep my pet 'happy' anymore and kill beasts for meat drop, nor make / buy, shells / arrows, for my bow / gun.... I'm really liking the changes they've made.  :)

Is it wrong that I have no idea what any of that really means?

I like games and all just never got around to WoW.

I guess the appeal is you live in a fantasy world, but man, I just can't commit my life to something like that.

I can't get into games like WoW either. I have an issue with having to pay to play a game I already paid for.

I played WoW for a while and it can be completely addicting.  Now I spend some of the time I would have on WoW on Skyrim, kinda the same vibe as WoW and a lot of fun.
