SKYRIM...... Midnight tonight...... I'm getting it!

That was a fantastic line up of nerds.

Where was the midnight launch??

Hey, Christina Aguilera was at the launch party with Bethesda ;)

I just went to the local EB games on Thursday night and they told me I could pre-pay and come back at midnight to pick it up.

I'm still trying to get my bearings in the game. I'm so used to playing Oblivion I know it like the back of my hand. I wish it was easier to switch between favourite weapons/spells on PS3. Seems kinda cumbersome imo.

Otherwise the game is so immersive. The fights are intense, I got my ass handed to me a couple times now for being too adventurous or... pickpockety :)

Game is amazing, some of the scenery is awe striking.

I chose to be a high elf and I've been burning everything that gets in my way. Killed one dragon and had to run from another.

The scale of the game is impressive.

Yeah, I'm playing it as well and the thing about Skyrim is the world is incredibly believable, much moreso than in Oblivion. It's got this gritty medieval realism compared to Oblivion's more fantasy style, and its also got a lot more variety. The caves and dungeons look different from each other, whereas in Oblivion everything seemed to look the same.

The terrain is just incredible and the score is fantastic. There's a lot more to do in this game than in Oblivion as well. I also love the addition of smithing and cooking, and the game is 10x harder than Oblivion so far. I used to just rush things before, now I can barely kill a cougar without getting hurt, and a Giant and Mammoth handed my ass to me in two hits.

Even regular characters can kill you if you're not careful. I was attacking a Khajit bandit. I almost killed him and he gave my a powerbomb for half health and killed me.

I'm a Breton Battlemage, sword in right hand and a Destruction spell in the left. I love mowing down stuff with the Sparks spell, makes me feel like Emperor Palpatine.

Skyrim has got to be Game Of The Year.  It's just fantastic.  My wife loves it as well.  We usually play it together.  Well, I play it while she watches.  I love everything about the game except the switching between spells/weapons.  I think there is a bug in the game.  Does it pause on you for a few secs when you bring up the favorites or any menu for that matter?  It does for me and it's annoying as heck.  Other than that, the world is just amazing.  So beautiful and the game is so deep.

Yeah, I don't like the switching method at all, it's slightly cumbersome.

I don't get lag at all. The only time it lags is if it's autosaving when I pull up a menu.

I've gotten lost in the game so much. I played for 3-4 hours tonight and I still feel like I accomplished so little. There's just so much to do.

I'm growing disillusioned with Skyrim.

I wish I could explore the Skyrim world, but using Morrowind's engine.  But with Skyrim's levelling system, that's an improvement.

I've never played Morrowind so I'm not sure what you mean by using it's engine.

This is me + the internet coming up with strageties for skyrim... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KG03ygZdLI

about as bad as when I killed a big daddy in bioshock without using any ammo by fighting him right next to a vitachamber

Some aspects in this game are pretty rough, but I've managed to be sneaky by using the Sanguine Rose and getting a Daedra to do my dirty work, heh. You get it in one of the most memorable quests I've played in a game. I love that the game is so varied - it's not just fetch quests, you actually get involved in the politics of Skyrim a lot more and the quests can be quirky and interesting. I love the way they introduce the Dark Brotherhood as well. I'm liking Skyrim the more I play it, it's great.

I'm in the midst of respecing my warrior to more of a battlemage. I think hand to hand is little weak, while magic tends to be stronger.

I dunno...I'm enjoying MW3 on the PS3 so far.  I mean sure is it a ton different than MW2?  Not really.  It's definitely different from Black Ops (some good ways, some bad ways).  Some real basic Pros and Cons as I only have about three hours in MP so far:

PROS:

- Playing MW3 you can definitely tell how sluggish BO was - MW2 runs like butter
- Not major, but maps load much faster.  Anyone notice how slowly maps loaded in BO?  The fastest loading ones came from DLC which weren't done by Treyarch.  Maybe that's telling
- Something simple like FINALLY being able to scroll through your killstreaks to decide what order to use them
- MW3 is definitely more run-and-gun with tighter maps.  This is a PRO to me
- I dig how you have to unlock everything for each weapon now, though in reality it's pretty easy to level up
- Air Support doesn't seem so overpowering and there seems to be lots of room for cover anyway
- COD Elite seems pretty cool but it's not even working right now lol
- Can quickly get into games. Searching seems super fast though the sheer amount of people playing right now is probably huge in that regard
- Noob Tube is nerfed.  I think I have only seen one person using it

CONS:
- Spawn points are atrocious on some maps like Dome and Mission for example (both great maps too).  What year is this that they can't do spawn points correctly?  BO sucked at this at launch too and they still weren't great after patched
- Menu system seems clunky.  Takes a lot of clicks to see info or to get to certain screens
- Recoil on most guns I have tried seem very minimal.  Add to that the "Kick" perk which lowers your recoil and you are a finely tuned aiming machine
- CONSTANT, and I mean CONSTANT UAVs in the air.  I think this is a side effect to the way they have set up killstreaks in MW3.  I guess it's not a bad thing as it's a good team bonus, but as someone who likes to shoot down UAVs hearing that one is constantly in the air makes me wish I had 100 rockets
- It's really easy to level up and especially to go PRO on perks.  Treyarch handled this better I think
- Obviously you can't customize your character/emblem like you could BO which is a turn off to some
- I heard the party system is broken even after a patch but I haven't tried it myself
- I find the audio weak.  It seems to lack bass that MW2 and BO had.  I have only played in headphones and it's quite noticeable
- They bring back the heartbeat monitor?  The worst attachment of all time?  Different ways to counter it to be sure, but man nobody except the lamest of the lame like or even use this thing

I am also enjoying MW3. Have you played BF3? or anyone on this board played both MW3 and BF3 and can give me some feedback? I only have MW3 but some of my friends say BF3 is better, I won't ever let go of my MW3 but may try out BF3 if anyone here has played both and have some insight? I played Socom 4 online and hated it (way too many things going on for me to focus) so any reviews on BF3/MW3 comparision would be great :)

You die in too few bullets in MW3. You get shot in the back WAY more than in BO. Maybe it's my lack of map knowledge this early in the game, but I feel like I'm CONSTANTLY getting shot in the back.

I had a really good KDR in BO (2.0+), and in MW3 I'm lucky if I break even (current KD is like .80). I feel like I'm encountering more guys in corners. More guys in shadows. More guys prone. More guys prone in a shadow in a corner aiming down sights looking directly at a window.

I'm not enjoying this game, but I blame the community for this more than the game developers. I don't have a huge problem with much in this game aside from everybody who plays it.

25 hours into the game and I haven't even played a single main quest aside from the mandatory beginning. The quests are extremely varied and interesting.

Battlemage is the way to go. I usually use dual cast on some of the super tough enemies (centurions and the like) as it allows me to keep distance and dual cast while I back pedal. Stoneflesh helps a lot when tanking in hand to hand.

I also use archery in sneak mode to peel away at an enemy when I get a chance.

I've been trying to build myself up as a warrior, so far.  But it seems like all the 1 handed weapons I've found are fairly weak.  Anything big (bear, frost troll) can murder me pretty good.  I even have a follower helping me out.  It can get tough, quick.

Regular swords are fairly weak early on but properly enchanted they can be devastating. Go to Azura's Shrine and complete its quest, it will make keeping enchanted weapons fully charged much easier.

I have played it and didn't care for it at all on console.  It's a HELL of a lot better on PC though if you have the hardware.  The console versions are neutered gfx-wise and gameplay-wise IMO. 12vs12 is the max on consoles and with the size of the maps and general epic feel of the game this is not nearly enough players to be fun for me.  And people who don't like campers in COD will rage hard in BF3 at people going sniper so they can lay down and try to snipe instead of actually playing the map.  And from my (albeit limited) experience everyone was going engineer and sniper making the different "classes" somewhat useless.  The vehicles/planes are without a doubt cool but I kinda got annoyed with operating one being alot players' focal point.  And often they would get in and just do donuts and stuff.

Just not my thing (on console at least).

I was having the same problem getting shot in the back until the last two nights where I have now become waaay more comfortable with the maps and just the general feel of the game coming from BLOPS.  It took 7 or 8 hours of gameplay though.  I'm more familiar with common hiding spots and frequently traveled paths, and have started to find which routes I like to take on the maps.

It's definitely less forgiving than in BLOPS where if you didn't get the first shot off you still had a chance to win the shootout.  MW3 not so much.  It seems like the guns have less recoil, and adding the KICK option to the gun makes the spread even tighter.  Maybe this is a big reason.

I had a really good KDR in BO (2.0+), and in MW3 I'm lucky if I break even (current KD is like .80).

I was also 2.0+ in BLOPs.  I'm at 1.50 in MW3 right now, but that's up .2 in the last two nights now that I am more comfortable with the game.

I feel like I'm encountering more guys in corners. More guys in shadows. More guys prone. More guys prone in a shadow in a corner aiming down sights looking directly at a window.

I think there are a couple reasons for this.  Similar to map packs when they first come out, people are a little more tentative while they learn the maps.  But also in MW3 the maps are very "busy" and have lots of cars and other things to hide behind which I agree, is annoying and they over did it.  I think there are alot more casual players playing now and it will eventually thin out which will also help.

I'm not enjoying this game, but I blame the community for this more than the game developers. I don't have a huge problem with much in this game aside from everybody who plays it.

I'd give it a little more time.  I've rally been enjoying it this week and 90% of that is probably just because I am doing alot better than last week.  I don't think the COD community is any worse than the community I played in for Quake, UT, HL, CS, TFC, TF2 etc, but it is a little magnified with so many people playing it.

I dunno if it's just me, but the annoying little kiddies who love camping and boosting and whatever seemed far less prevalent in BO.

Also, I played a little on my own last night (not with my usual party), and I absolutely tore up the other team on more than a few occasions. I'm wondering if the matchmaking drastically changes depending on if you're in a party or not? I know that if I was playing with a buddy of mine who hadn't prestiged in BO, he was always party leader, and we consistently got weaker competition...I'm wondering if the quality of players changes based on if you're partied up?

Tried sniping for the first time ever. I'm awful at it. Much better with the ACOG than the regular scope though.

My KDR in BLops was .77, i am at level 77 (haven't prestiged yet) on MW3 and I'm a 1.50 KDR, so obviously I'm liking MW3 :D I can't believe there are 16 maps, cause i feel like im playing the same ones over and over..
