Thanks all for the suggestions, I started The Wire last night, watched the first 3 eps. A bit slow, but by the end of the third, I was definitely getting sucked in.

I see a couple suggestions on jessica jones - I'll give that a shot as well.

Yeah, it's not a quick fix for sure, you have to let the arcs play out, it's worth it though.

Caught a bbc show called Rome's Invisible City, a documentary about the incredible feats of Roman architecture and city planning.

I would have enjoyed that. I'll have to see if I can find it.

I've come to grips with the fact that it's never going to be particularly popular or even win a bunch of awards but dangit if The Americans isn't the best thing on TV right now I don't know what is.
I heart this show, but I need palate cleansers once in awhile. So grim and tense.

Love this one too. And I feel I'm picking up some really helpful pointers for raising a teenaged daughter. Is there a better show about this?

Here is a terrible youtube video of it.

Does anyone know how NHL GameCentre works with regards to watching the Leafs? My understanding from the Rogers rep was that only regionally televised games would be blacked out, but nationally televised games would be available.

It's not a huge concern because I work evenings and miss most of the games, but on the chance that I have a day off and they're playing I'd like to know what my options are. Thanks!

I haven't watched season 2 of Bloodlines yet but I generally love anything Kyle Chandler does. Ben Mendelsohn is great too.

The Night Manager is definitely on my list of things to watch very soon as well.

Great to see Mr. Robot there a couple of times.

No idea how Modern Family keeps getting nominated for things. I absolutely loved their first few seasons but it's been pretty mediocre for awhile now.

I think these nominations are technically for season 1 because of the Emmys weird cutoff point.

Largely because the quality of TV comedies is, well, not good these days - at least in terms of those with broad appeal.

Ah, yeah I was wondering about that. I liked season 1. It was a very slow burn but once it got to where it was going I thought it was fantastic. And while I may have changed the pacing I thought it was definitely one of the best-acted shows out there.

The Emmys seem to be branching out though. I don't really think any of the other comedy picks are your typical family sitcom. Anyway, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend would have been my pick to replace it.

Gotta say, of GoT actors I'd nominate Kit Harington would be pretty low down the list. Definitely below someone like Liam Cunningham.

Really? I really tried to like it, but, after like 3 episodes, I was bored with the premise and over the whole "song of the week" shtick. I would have replaced it with New Girl or Brooklyn 9-9.

Admittedly I'm a sucker for musicals. But yeah I'd have both those other 2 shows over Modern Family as well.

Jonathan Pryce would have been a good one too.

Or Conleith Hill but they didn't give him much to do this season.

Yeah screen time for him was probably too low. I'd have even gone with Iwan Rheon over Kit. Like you said, that's a strange pick.
