The Official TV Thread

Enjoyed a few shows done by Ricky Gervais on Netflix..

Derek Took me a couple of episodes to get into it but man does this ever take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions.

After Life So far only season 1 but again another great show by Gervais.

I think both tv series are brilliant and Gervais shows us he is so much more then a comedian.

Humanity Stand up special.

Finally getting caught up on season 2 of Barry. I remember people saying that episode 5 was one of the craziest half hours of television and holy crap did it live up to the hype.

OMG Fleabag 2

That's on my list of things to watch now that my dumb Arrowverse shows (not you, LOT, you're perfect don't ever change) are over. Season 1 was incredible.

Season 1 Fleabag is 2017-2018 Mitch Marner. Season 2 is 2018-2019 Mitch Marner and Andrew Scott is John Tavares.

Also LOT Season 4 is just the most fun; that meta-jab at season 1 towards the end was savage.

I don't think anything will ever top last seasons finale (Beebo!) but this one was still great.

What service are you using to watch these shows?

It rhymes with... ah damn I can't think of anything that rhymes with piracy.

I got a free 6 months with Rogers at the new place and it came with Crave. Previously, I'd just be going with Carlton's route. LOT and associated shows get posted to Netflix after their seasons are up (The Flash is weekly)

So it gets better? I started watching season 1 because some critics I read spoke highly of it in the present tense but I really had trouble getting through those episodes.

It starts to lean into the wackiness inherit to its premise in season 2, and that really helps make it so much more entertaining.

Season 1 sucked quite a bit. The villain was monotonous. The central heroes related to that villain were teeeedious. Arthur Darvill messing around with a time machine is novelty fun for about 3 episodes tops. The only good thing was probably Wentworth Miller chewing scenery.

In full recognition of that, they pivot immediately in season 2 to outright take top spot in pretty much all superhero tv shows on right now (Agents of SHIELD I still hold in very high esteem from Winter Soldier on).

What?s most impressive about Legends of Tomorrow are how the writers hold the throughlines of their stories. The characters are not charicatures either, and most feel like living, breathing, three-dimensional comic book characters. There?s a Deadpoolesque irreverence at times.

It genuinely seemed like most of his lines were in the service of pointing out how stupid the show I was watching was.

Yeah I'm not even exaggerating when I say post season 1 of Legends of Tomorrow is one of my favourite shows on TV right now. There was a massive shift to be wackier/funner after the first season. The writers really let loose and the actors do a great job going with it.
