The Official Weather Thread

Not ours. Once again, it did our place, two doors in either direction from our place (so, five driveways in all) and the catwalk to the park behind us.....and by the time that was all done, he started again with ours and next door (cause those two men had to go to work, everyone else was 'non essential' and was smart/lucky to stay home)....

We are lucky though, only about a foot and a half of snow here. Much more south and east of us.

I'm so sick of hearing people whining about the weather.  Personally I had no snowbanks at all.  Nothing.  When I lived in Thunder Bay, there were times you couldn't use a snowblower because for most part, they won't throw the snow over the banks.  People here don't even think of snow storage places.  Push it off to the sides and let it melt.

hasn't been like that in years it seems. We obviously still get our huge dumps of snow on occasion, but the amount of snow has really dropped off. There's only about a foot in my backyard right now and that's only because of a 30 cm snowfall from a couple of weeks ago.

I remember in 1995, people were driving snowmobiles down Arthur St. so they could get groceries.

Same here in Manitoba, barely anything in the North (where I work) or South (where I live) compared to recent years, it has been like that for a few years now over here, I'm not complaining though :-D

My street was a disaster.  No plow, snow piled God knows how high everywhere -- our porch had compiled maybe three feet of the white stuff ( yes, after having been shovelled twice!).

We have someone (whom we pay on occasion) to come clean up our driveway, porch, sidewalks), but, this person doesn't seem to get it leaving a huge snowbank fight in front of the first sidewalk facing the veranda(porch)! Also, leaving another snowbank on the side of the driveway -- for heaven's sakes, pour it over the lawn on both sides!! :(

I used to love shovellling snow in my younger days (when I had no foot or knee pains and the cold didn't bother me much).  Now it's different. Believe it or not, my mother goes out with broom & shovel in hand and cleans the veranda & sidewalks whenever it's light enough to do so...and she's almost 80 yrs. old!!  She doesn't look her nor act old (she still wears her jeans), still retains a great memory for details, and looks much younger than her age.  Bless her and thank God for that.  :) :)

We have some great neighbour(s) who not only help out on snowy days but also put the garbage/recycling bins back in their place and if asked, also plant our garden.  It reaffirms our faith in the good people of this planet! :)

Now, will the weather gods spare all of us some much-needed cold reprieve?  NO FREEZING RAIN PLEASE!!

Not sure how you powerwalk in this kind of snow LH but ill stick to my treadmill in the basement.

I think about all the squirrels in the park that look forward to my sunflower seeds. It's only about 4 km; the snow was about knee deep, but only in park. The sidewalks on the way there only had about 4 or 5 inches on it. Just slog my way through it. :) I love being the first footsteps (well, except for the squirrels) in the park after/during a snowfall.....

Yeah, I'm sure it's beautiful. Today was gorgeous with all the fresh fallen snow & the bright sun!

On top of that, the kids and the dog just loved romping around in it for chunks of the day. Still, my back.  :(

:-\ Hope your back is feeling better.

This has happened two years in a row now - I go away for a little while and it snows like crazy and my wife ends up having to do all the shovelling. Luckily, we have a smaller driveway than last year AND she said she found it refreshing - only 30 cm after all.

We got 2 cm plus strong winds up to 70 km/h and high windchills in Quebec City.

Hamilton's supposed to get 20-30.

They're "only" calling for 10-15 for Toronto.

Meanwhile, the rest of Canada is laughing at us for freaking out about snow.

With the weather soon to change and warmer temperatures on the horizon, some parts of Canada may experience what some say may be a "moderate to major" flooding, due to the thawing of snow.

Many are hoping for the best while bracing for the worst.

Here's the story:

Freezing rain warning for much of Southern Ontario going into tomorrow - looks like we could have a pretty major ice storm. I also read that the City of Toronto "sent home" the winter maintenance contractors, so they have something like only 18 trucks to service the entire city.

I am going to take another look at the weather tomorrow AM, but I am pretty sure I am going to avoid going anywhere near the GTA (luckily I can work from home).

Stay safe everyone.

Huge blizzard in Thunder Bay right now. It really sucks. White-outs, tonnes of snow. The city is slowly shutting down; police are urging everyone to stay the hell home.

Those in the rest of Ontario: get prepared, because it's coming your way.

I have an old, but pretty picture of snow on the crab-apple blossoms.  Dated July 1st.  Of course that was before man's environmental impact was going to destroy the world.

Wall of ice moved by strong winds causes havoc to homeowners in a Winnipeg summer lake community.

Ah, summer, that time of year we wait for....cool smoothies, mouth-watering bbqs, cool refreshing thirst quenchers, and....nice weather on the horizon, Canada....

According to the forecast predictions set forth by Accuweather (Canada), summer in this nation will bring us variable weather across the regions & provinces.  Hot days interspersed with cool days in-between, dry spells interspersed with rain/thunderstorms (in some places, a little stormier), etc.

A warmer than average summer predicted for much of Atlantic Canada has turned up as one of the surprises in the forecast, said Anderson.

Residents living in Montreal through to Quebec City can also expect the mercury to rise.

...the weather in southern Ontario is expected to be pleasant, with hot periods broken up by what?s expected to be welcome cooler days, although some thunderstorms are expected earlier in the season.

...regions from southern Saskatchewan to southern Alberta are expected to sweat it out for much of the season.

...,areas between Edmonton, Winnipeg and the U.S. border should brace for a higher-than-normal amount of severe thunderstorms this summer, as well as some very warm spells.

Drier conditions...in much of southeastern British Columbia....most balanced temperatures are...for Vancouver and southwestern parts of the province.

....soggiest spots this summer are likely to be the northern Prairies and areas of northwestern Ontario particularly around Lake Superior, including Thunder Bay and Sault Ste Marie.
