I live next to High Park and I was out of town all day. Just got home.

Our basement has been flooding during regular rain so I was fearing the worst.

Only minimal flooding. Left two guitars resting on the floor. Disaster averted.

... and on a related note, Cars just about completely under water on the DVP which is closed - again. What's the deal? We've had lots of rain before but I don't remember so many problems.

@CP24: Tonight's rainfall has surpassed the previous record of 29.2 mm set in 2008.  Current amount is 94 mm.

So Toronto tripled its record rainfall?  That seems impossible.  What's going on?  The apocalypse?

Well that was interesting.  We had no flooding or power outage up here in Richmond Hill but my brother and mom in Toronto had their power out for quite some time.  Crazy images from downtown.

Ya... Most of the GTA lost power, a  Lots of people without hot water this morning...

Well I guess we know where all those melting iceberg are!!

The images are unbelievable... For GTA at least..

I was pretty lucky I live right next to the ACC and power was out for maybe an hour and half at most.

The City called in the Army for snow a bunch of years back - where's the Navy when you need them!

29.2mm was the record for rainfall on a day in July. The previous actual record was 121mm, or somewhere around there.

Sue and I used to live on High Park Blvd (#38 I think) at the corner of Indian Rd in a big red brick house on block from the entrance to the park.

No more help from Ottawa?  What a shame...

Let's hope "extreme weather" is not "the new normal"...

It's 6:00am, woke up to a cold house!!  No power, no furnace, no nothing.  Ice storm (freezing rain) has caused power outages in Toronto & environs.

Just what everyone needed on one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year.
(Did my Xmas shopping early this month 'cause you never
what lurks in winter weather. The Grinch didn't steal mine! ;D).
