The Trade Deadline

Sid Seixeiro ‏ @Sid_Seixeiro
We just showed a shot of Joffery Lupul walking into practice. His right wrist was in a soft cast. #SNTrade #leafs

Does anybody know if Columbus has totally given up on Mason? If they really want to get rid of that kid, I'd be more willing to trade bigger to acquire both those players, because I still think Mason can be revived.

I suppose it would depend on how the BJ's feel about him.

markhmasters: For the record: Nonis was on the phone while walking in to Leafs' practice facility; Burke wasn't wearing a tie #indepth #Tradecentre

ZOMG!!! ;D

Burke and Nonis just drove from the ACC to the MasterCard centre in a huge hurry.... all caught on camera OJ Simpson/Bronco style.

Uhmmmmmmm.

Actually or in jest.  It sounds absurd to have that kind of coverage, except I'm pretty sure there are 23 reporters performing illegal activities on the lives of Burke and Nonis at the moment.  Three reporters are detailing his sister and another four have been hiding in the ACC washrooms since last Tuesday.

they had a shot of the two of them pulling into the parking lot and rushing out of his SUV to head in.

I'm going to hold off getting excited until I hear about his underarm sweat situation.

I'm sure they have given up on him. He is a complete disaster.  Change of scenery might help but boy... talk about having to come back from the brink.

Burke might be able to take him on as one of those salary relief deals which could lighten the size of the package going back to Columbus.

I guess there wouldn't be the worry that Allaire could ruin him anymore then...

;D

@DownGoesBrow
Not saying #TradeCentre day is off to a slow start, but Jason Allison?s shootout move just came up behind it and flashed its high beams.

I really only have have one prediction for tomorrow... At some point, we'll see Burke address the media with his tie draped around his neck, looking like he just wrestled his lunch back from a mountain lion. I'm also predicting the sun will come out too, so...

Listening to Pat Quinn at the "strategy desk" on sportsnet is actually quite interesting.  Neil Smith is ok too.  As for the other two guys I wish they should shut up and let the guys with ability to do the GM job well talk.

I do like that format a lot.

Burke says he turned down an offer for Reimer.

:o

And why wouldn't he? I mean, unless it's just a ridiculous offer, Reims isn't going anywhere. I think they would move Goose first IMO.

I really think he should move Gus today, but I think that has to be preceded by a trade for a veteran goalie.  Or, get a vet for Gus.. something like that.

Everyone having fun on the most exciting day of the year?

Trade deadline day is great. There's nothing going on for the first few hours, but, once it gets to around 2 hours before the deadline, the minor deals come fast and furious!

They talk about Grabbo being UFA and something having to get done with him, but Goose is also UFA and I think is a bigger target to move than is Grabbo.

If it was me, I would use Gustafsson in a trade for Mason, as part of a Nash deal, but that's me. Otherwise, I agree with you, he may be moved for a more veteran goalie.
