The Unofficial Fire Ron Wilson/Ron Wilson is the Greatest Thread

I really like Burke.  But at the end of the season if he's still standing by Wilson, I'd fire them both.  My only fear is they scheme trading someone like Gardiner for a quick fix to save their own asses.

Wilson isn't going anywhere until the end of the season and I would
think that he can't spare RW when the Leafs fail to make the playoffs.
I don't think Burke will "at any cost" a trade to get into the playoffs. I only
fear Grabbo going but I'm getting pessimistic about that if he wants north
of $5 mil as it's been reported.

I haven't bumped this thread in at least a day. I think it's safe to say the wheels have fallen off.

Fire Wilson now please. We will win trade deadline day by firing Wilson

Did I mention they should fire him?

Fire him.

Just fire him.

Now.

Please

Wilson defenders, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.  Not trying to troll anyone, but I'd really like to hear from you on what your "final straw" is.

Surely there can't be any Wilson defenders left short of fans of other teams at this point.

3 pts out of 18 possible points in the last 9 games played is .167 hockey. Not only have the wheels fallen off. They're in a ditch.

Washington was the team ahead of them in the standings. If they can't get up for that game, they're in trouble.

I suspect when the deadline passes, they'll probably bounce back some but they've obviously really hurt their chances for the playoffs with this bad stretch.

Hopefully, Burke got a bulk deal on some plane tickets.  :)

As expected, Wilson took no responsibility in the post game conference. Threw Reimer under the bus, drove over him as well. Then he mentioned something like "I don't think any coach would have the answer to how to get these guys more confident"

Your head coach ladies and gentlemen!

Yeah, it's never Wilson's fault. Same flat special teams since he got here but who's to question his ego? I'm sure in his mind, he's a chess master type of coach but I'm starting to wonder if he knows what day it is.

Don't ask Burke about it though..........Ron Wilson is a great coach damn it.

What I don't get is.........when the team watches a Sundin ceremony or what they had for the old team tonight, how do they come out flat and barely score a goal? I was sour on Sundin when he left but after watching him that night, I would have scored 5 goals myself with how I felt.

I'm sorry but that's on the coach. Wilson said tonight that they wanted to start off with a defensive game and "that happened." Well Ron, your penalty killing hasn't been the best since you got here so why in the F would you start your game that way?

With the goaltending........I don't know if Martin Brodeur or Patrick Roy would have flourished if every time they lost a game, they'd be sitting on the bench. It was a stupid idea from the beginning. Goalies like to know where they stand and then fight for their job.......not the other way around.

I can't wait until Ron Wilson and his huge head move out of town.

As much as dislike RW, the Maple leafs org, needed to stop having retirements, 62 cup celebrations ect.... at the start of the Year...... This kills any mojo the team got during the warmup.. and we come out flat.... NEVERTHELESS I wanted him fired after last season...

I agree with the celebrations thing but Washington had as much to lose as the Leafs and they had to watch the whole thing too. They weren't at home either. The celebration didn't kill their mojo. Hell, it took them under a minute to score.

Maybe these celebrations are exciting the wrong teams.

But the Washington players were in the dressing room sitting and relaxing, while the Toronto players were standing on the ice getting cold and tired.

Sorry.  I don't understand.  Could you clarify?  Are you arguing for a Wilson extension?

I've given Wilson the benefit of the doubt his first three years here, but this latest stretch has made me question if he'll ever be able to achieve anything of significance here in Toronto (if given the chance).  Heck, throughout this game tonight I was thinking he should be canned tomorrow morning after this debacle.

I've been a harsh critic of Schenn this year as he has been downright awful, and although I'd have no problem seeing him go in a trade, I have turned myself into believing that he should be kept around to see if he could develop properly under a different coach.

;D...........the sad thing is, I would have rather seen the '62 team take on the Capitals tonight. I doubt they would have done much worse. Hell, Bower might have had a shutout.

Elliotte Friedman ‏ @FriedgeHNIC

Ron Wilson: "2 goals at beginning of the game were stoppable...we're kinda always waiting now for something bad to happen on the goal line."

Elliotte Friedman ‏ @FriedgeHNIC

Wilson's quote says one of two things: Either another goalie is coming, or he believes he's in trouble and doesn't care what he says.

If Eric Francis was accurate when he said Leafs management felt before tonight's game that the way they played tonight would dictate what they'd do at the deadline, might be the latter.

I'm not sure after watching Wilson's PC

Wilson's been saying that crap for 4 years now. Why would it seem like he's worried about his job?

If he is worried about his job..........what a classy way to go out. I hope they have enough vaseline at the ACC to get his head through the doorways and into a plane.

Speaking of coaching, why in the hell don't the Leafs hire a guy like Ken Dryden to coach the goalies? You know, someone who's actually done the job and won a cup or few.

Every other position is coached by a guy who's been there so what's the point of a guy whose never done the job telling kids how to do it?

I think Patrick Roy would have found his game without Allaire. Tim Thomas did too.

I'm ready to let him go shortly after the deadline. If Burke can't make a trade that sparks this group, a change behind the bench might be the only way this team claws it's way back into the playoffs. I wouldn't bring Eakins up yet - the Marlies are poised for a good run - but, I'd have to give him serious consideration for the job over the summer.

That being said, I think he'll still be behind the bench until the end of the season, but, no longer than that.

Burke to Ron

Listen Ron I know we have been good friends for a long time
but it is your ass or mine. I got to let you go.
