Per the photo above, Murray is listed 6'0, Forsberg 6'2... doesn't seem like a stretch to me that Galchenyuk is 6'0 + ( he seems to be leaning into the shot some too)... and Yakupov has to be standing on a box or grew a bit.

I read Gally was 6'2" but it's obvious he isn't. That's all I'm saying.

The espn list is where I took those other two from and they had him at 6'1, fwiw, not that there's a world of difference.

It's hard to tell without being able to see their whole bodies. It could just be that some of them are standing up straighter than others or have shoes with an extra half inch on their heels or whatever. In addition to leaning, it looks like Galchenyuk is slouching a little bit as well. At the very least, he doesn't have his neck as straight as the rest of them.

Central Scouting has Galchenyuk at 6'0.5". I'd say they're the most accurate source when it comes to this sort of thing.

Two observations:

1. How tall Chain is hardly matters when there isn't more than 5 or 6 inches between the lot of them.  What does matter (with respect to forwards' general phyisque) is upper- and lower-body strength, and aside from Yakupov, who's got a head/neck shaped like a piston, it's hard to tell from this shot.

2.  Yakupov has a head/neck shaped like a piston.

Far more worrying is that if that picture is to be believed none of them have legs or hands.

Saw a pic of Galchenyuk from the combine and he looked seriously ripped (awaits immature Frank E comment, also awaits mature comments from everyone else).

Missed Gally shirtless. Of note, some saying Subban might be the best pure athlete in this draft. Strange for a goaltender, no?

No, no, Yakupov has hands.

I don't really see much to comment on tbh. From most reports the combine doesn't really determine draft position. Some are in better physical shape than others but I really don't see a point in micro analyzing every aspect of these prospects' physiques.

I agree, generally speaking. I think it counts for something, like if someone has shown the level of commitment to succeed or not...

But hypothetically if two guys with identical junior stats show up to the combine and one guy is in terrific shape while the other looks mediocre, yet they still both performed the same on the ice, then which guy should have more room to grow in the future?

Maybe the guy that shows room for improvement?  ;D

Exactly. But that's the point, these stats and measurements can go both ways.

FWIW

Just realised he's their agent. ::)

Interesting article on the Leafs at the draft.

There has been a lot of talk about Galchenyuk since the combine and I would predict that the top 3 picks will be Yakupov, Murray and Galchenyuk (in no particular order). If the leafs don't trade up we will most likely end up with Grigorenko or Forsberg.

I wish I had read that article before I posted mine.

Here is an article that basically backs up the one you posted.  Its uncanny.
