Last time I saw the Bruins I was shocked at how fast Lucic was.  It's pretty obvious the guy has a lot more going for him than just being big and strong ... I've pretty much written off Biggs as a prospect.  Let's hope I'm wrong.

Why did you write him off?

Mostly because his offensive numbers were so weak I figured it showed that he just doesn't have the kind of hand-eye coordination it takes to be anything beyond a 4th liner.  Even 3rd liners typically put up big scoring numbers in after they are drafted in junior leagues ... I'm certainly no expert though --- my opinion isn't really worth anything.

Lucic put up just under a PPG (68 in 70 games), and Biggs is a bit lower (53 in 60) in each of their respective seasons after being drafted.

Looks to me like Biggs my be the same type of player. we will see now that the leafs dont need to push them through the system so fast anymore.

You're not exactly alone. There's a fair amount of people who believe that Biggs won't be much more than a 3rd or 4th liner with little offensive upside. I'd be fine with that as long as he's hitting everything in sight and is responsible defensively.

You're not exactly alone. There's a fair amount of people who believe that Biggs won't be much more than a 3rd or 4th liner with little offensive upside. I'd be fine with that as long as he's hitting everything in sight and is responsible defensively.

Actually Biggs played a season in college the year after he was drafted, those Junior numbers were 2 years later.  Like I said early I give him a pass on that seeing that Lucic put up those numbers after 2 previous seasons in the same league whereas Biggs played US dev. then college and then Junior which would seem to require an adjustment period each season.

Biggs? mobility progressed after he had lessons with Leafs skating coach Barbara Underhill last summer. While Biggs has a ways to go before he can consider making a jump to the NHL, he has an eye on new Leaf David Clarkson, who has become adept at bumping and scoring.

?He?s a guy who has physically dominated and played with grit,? Biggs said. ?You look at him these past couple years and he has really put the numbers up as well. To be well-rounded like that is definitely a goal.?

His point totals in the AHL did mirror Clarkson's the next few seasons. Should have picked a different role model to aspire to.

Biggs: 13-14: 9 points, 14-15: 5 points
Clarkson: 13-14: 11 points, 14-15: 15 points
