Tyler with another two goals today in an overtime loss to Finland.

Not bad! Hopefully a sign that he's developing and has a good season ahead. I don't have huge expectations for Biggs, but a solid 3rd liner who wears opponents down and can contribute 30-40 pts a year would be a big success IMO.

Yeah, and that's nothing to scoff at either.  If he can provide a big, physical presence in the lineup and chip in moderately offensively I think most people will be happy with him.  I think a lot might look and only see "1st round pick," but in the context of that pick it would be a good result.

Last time I saw the Bruins I was shocked at how fast Lucic was.  It's pretty obvious the guy has a lot more going for him than just being big and strong ... I've pretty much written off Biggs as a prospect.  Let's hope I'm wrong.

Lucic was pretty awful at the Junior level until the year after he was  drafted.  Lucic had 30 goals in 70 games or .43 goals per game in that final season after being drafted. Biggs who was drafted out of the US National development program and the following season played college has only one year at Junior to try to look at some sort of comparison.  He had 26 goals in 60 games or .43 goals per game.  You could say that Biggs was a year older putting up those numbers at Junior but you could also say Lucic had 2 previous seasons in the same league to get his feet wet whereas Biggs had bounced around from league to league.

Yes, I have been disappointed at Biggs as well since he was drafted but I never really expected him to put up Junior numbers like that of a Kadri.  I expected him to eventually become an NHL  top 9 maybe top 6 forward with bang that could contribute like a Lucic or a Clowe.  I think it is a player like that the who the Leafs really need to elevate their overall toughness level going forward.

Why did you write him off?

Seems that footspeed was one of the knocks/weaknesses of Lucic's game when he was drafted: http://bruins2010draftwatch.blogspot.ca/2010/05/bruins-draft-flashback-milan-lucic-2006.html

Mostly because his offensive numbers were so weak I figured it showed that he just doesn't have the kind of hand-eye coordination it takes to be anything beyond a 4th liner.  Even 3rd liners typically put up big scoring numbers in after they are drafted in junior leagues ... I'm certainly no expert though --- my opinion isn't really worth anything.

Lucic put up just under a PPG (68 in 70 games), and Biggs is a bit lower (53 in 60) in each of their respective seasons after being drafted.
