I agree as well, the Detroit method, be patient with your prospects unless they're superstars, let them grow and mature at a reasonable rate.

Name is a work in progress.
That's only their method for their top line guys, but even they were given 3 seasons of developmental time before they saw NHL ice. What Detroit has had the luxury of is NHL success, so there's less external pressure on them to move their prospects along until they're clearly ready. Of course, because of that success, most of those prospects haven't been high-end guys, but, that's life when you're a contending team for 20 years.
