Is LL showing these guys the holes or is he getting them to dig them themselves?

Beauchemin is clearly massively beneficial.  He was turned in to Lupul and Gardiner.  Signing a free agent F and then trading him for players X and Y on other teams that you like more is just as good as signing X and Y from the start.  It is an excellent and necessary way to build the team's talent base.  I'd be perfectly happy if Burke plays the Beauchemin game over and over again several more times.

I'm not sure why the Beauchemin trade and the Beauchemin UFA signing can't be measured separately on their own merits.

I think Beauchemin was a decent signing who gave the Leafs serviceable minutes at a reasonable price and the trade has obviously worked out quite well.

I think he gets unfairly lumped in with the Komisarek signing, I thought he was much better than Komisarek in his time here and from what I've heard he's been decent for the ducks since he got back there.

I agree with what Parise's (I think) agent said today.  Don't have the exact quote, but basically said that it is perfectly reasonable for a person to take a few days to decide on offers to go somewhere for 13 years.

It was Suter's agent, but yeah, the guys who signed on Sunday were mainly 5 years or less, signing a 13 year deal is quite different.

And in the meantime we fans are left to twist slowly, slowly in the wind as we dangle from our own petards?  What does Mr. Bigstuff Agent have to say about that, I'd like to know?

I think I'd agree with that for the most part. I think he suffered some from high expectations as people, IIRC, sort of thought that outside of the Pronger-Niedermeyer shadow he'd turn into a top notch #2 but he was an ok middle pairing guy in his time here.

As I recall, he also really suffered from being overused by Wilson. Though in Wilson's defense, and this will be one of the only times I will defend him, there wasn't much else on the blueline.

Into.... the pot...?

I'm still trying to figure out that one myself.

You invented this new variation on the old expression, so I'd say you're the world's foremost authority on it.

Hey, The Muse invents 'em, I just channel 'em.  You'd need to ask her.

DarrenDreger: Taylor Pyatt also agrees to 2 year deal with the NYR.

DarrenDreger: 2 years...annual average salary of $1.55 for Pyatt with NYR.

Big body to replace Prust?

Yeah, a couple of old fellas but if I'm a Stars fan, I'd really dig it... Pretty potent top 6 if you ask me;

Chris Nichols: #Stars lines potentially project as Whitney-Benn-Jagr/ Eriksson-Roy-Ryder with Morrow outside the top six. #justaguess
