I can't rail too hard against Rogers, as in the grand scheme of things, it didn't affect me as it did the same way it did small businesses and others reliant on Internet and phone services.  Although it makes on realize just how reliant we are for such services, and sure made one feel almost helpless in a way not being able to call or text family or friends even to check in on them.

Rogers though has to find out a way to compensate everyone.  Even menial people like me who was without service for 24 hours -- even a day's credit.  There is a lot of goodwill in doing so.  I don't know how one can put a true value on it, but them saying, "We had network server issues...we're sorry the inconvenience it caused..." won't cut it.

My wife said she read somewhere that all Rogers customers are getting 2 days worth of credit. The email I got from Rogers also said something about credit being automatically applied to accounts, so, there's somethign in the works there.
But the crazy thing is the knock on effect of a lost couple days worth of transactions for businesses. It equates to so much more damage. I wonder if we see a class action lawsuit here.

Rogers, Fido and Chatr cellular devices have no signal this morning for the majority of the country.  Just an FYI if you haven?t noticed yet because you were on WIFI at home.

I'm a total rogers customer. No cell. No internet. No cable today until about half an hour ago. I feel sorry for the customer service rep who answers my husband's call tomorrow. He's not a happy camper.

I should really just mind my business, but what point would there be to call and be angry with a customer service rep that had nothing to do with a NATION-wide outage?

oh, he'll be polite with the first person answering and ask for the account retention supervisor. Just like every time something is out with rogers. Sorry I wasn't more clear.

and it's up to a five day credit now. Which is almost reasonable, since we actually have been ignite tv less for five days.

They're just lucky it isn't hockey playoffs, Olympics or WJHC time........

It's currently 28.8 degrees in my garden somewhere in the middle of Northern Ireland. In the sun it feels like about 34 degrees.

The highest temperature ever recorded here is 31 degrees and I'd say that could go in the next few hours. Dublin has hit  32.5 degrees today which I think is Dublin's highest ever (12 degrees above the avergae temp for this time of year) and Ireland's highest in over 100 years.

Over in London it's getting up towards 38 degrees already (the record for England is 38.7). The forecast is that they could see new record temperatures today or tomorrow. And not a new record by 0.1 or 0.2 degrees, but by 2 or 3 degrees and smashing through the 40 degree barrier.

I don't know if you have followed this case. But considering that Asap Rocky was arrested in Sweden, it's been kind of sensitive that the police wanted to talk to Drake, since they were informed that both him and his bodyguard were doing drugs, and that one of his bodyguards was wearing a knife which is also illegal. Apparently Drake refused to leave a blood sampIe don't think that they will continue with the investigation though.

I remember during the Asap Rocky case, that Trump wanted to bail Asap Rocky out, which was funny, because in general in Sweden you can not bail yourself out, regardless of who you are.

Camping. Finally tried it. Not for me. Don't see the fascination many others do with it. Dare I say it, I found it quite pointless, extremely boring and very uncomfortable.

Ahhh yes.  Leave all the comforts of modern civilization to be miserable.

But, you get to be one with nature. Think about how much you were able to bond with the mosquitoes...

I have a four day camping trip coming up at the end of August, all the way up near Kirkland Lake (Esker Lakes Provincial Park). Haven't camped in 16 years, it's like a 7 hour drive away, with my wife, kid and dog.... I'll see if I come back with the same attitude.  ;D

Yasss! I love watching those type of video's. Also Stealth camping/camp fires/dugouts etc...  Fun stuff.

I loved MCQ Bushcraft (he has since retired from videos probably due to the demonetization of anything to do with knives and hunting). Super practical without going full prepper overboard.

I've never seen his vid's before, I'll have to check some out. Thanks!

So I was having a conversation with a friend yesterday in WhatsApp about the movies Airplane and top secret. And today when I went into Instagram and just looked at some random reels a bunch of clips from airplane and top secret showed up.

I did not do any google searches for those movies. So I dunno, I think Facebook is ?listening? to WhatsApp.

Everything is listening to everything.  I once posted here on my work laptop and got an email shortly after about how posting to public forums needs to be done with caution.

How they track
No, Facebook didn?t hear your conversation. They are just so good at tracking you in other ways that it can feel that way.

We know that Facebook surveils our online behaviors: i.e., what websites we visit, what terms we search for, what we purchase online, etc. These tracking methods (which get extremely sophisticated beyond what we?re describing here) have a direct influence on the ads that we see.

In the case of the conversation with the friend, we can thank location tracking for that. Even when one is not signed in to the app, Facebook (given permission by the user) can track the location of our mobile phones.

Therefore, Facebook was able to determine that you and the friend were in the same location at the party. If the friend had previously had any online interaction with Yummy Time, then there is your connection. Facebook knows you?re friends on Facebook. It knows you were together. If that friend is bringing up Yummy Time, it?s likely that he or she has had some kind of recent interaction with it?Googling it, visiting the website, etc. Even if the mentioned product was one your friend purchased in a store, Facebook location tracking can be privy to the fact that your friend was at said store.

Let?s take it a step further. Even if your friend (Friend A) had only had a conversation about Yummy Time with another friend (Friend B), then Friend A could have been the one on the receiving end of the ad prior to talking about it with you. That?s enough for Facebook to try the ad with you as well.

In other words?
Beyond just being together, Facebook?s algorithm compares your interests, demographics, places you?ve been, groups you?re a part of, hashtags you follow (the list goes on) to that of your friend. If you and your friend are similar, and the friend has already left a trail of breadcrumbs to that product, then Facebook will serve you up an ad to see if you feel the same.
