We need Cory Schneider

I'm to base your opinion on your opinion?

Kadri getting scratched for Rosehill is kind of weak sauce though man.

No. You're free to do with it what you may. My feeling however is that of Schneider, Colborne, and Kadri, I'd choose the goaltender so fast my own head would be spinning.

Well goaltending is pretty tough to get a read on these days, I'm certainly no expert but I find it hard to agree with you.

I'm no expert either... I had Gustavsson in the scrap heap earlier in the season, so...

I hear you Sarge, it's not easy, that's why we aren't making the big bucks making these decisions. I could easily be wrong and Schneider may be the second coming of Tretiak mutated with Hasek but at this point I agree with Zee, let them play it out and see what happens.

Just checked the list of free agent goalies. Nobody really jumped out at me except maybe Josh Harding.

Andrew Raycroft is a free agent - do we take another run at him?

If I thought Ron Wilson had done all he can do to make this team defensively responsible, then I might be inclined to think about a new goalie.  Fire Wilson, get a new game plan going, then see how things turn out.

I had a look at it too and there wasn't much to write home about.

If the Leafs are going to get another goalie the fa route is probably best served as back up/veteran territory if at all.

Well he's coach for the next 10 years so you can forget that option and think about a new goalie.

With Elliott now signed to an extension, could the rumours of St Louis moving Halak have so truth to them? I'm not sure they'd bet it all on a few good months out of Elliott, but, stranger things have happened.

Yes, because a 1 season extension clearly means he's going to be here for another decade. ::)

I feel they keep both. As far as the Leafs are concerned, no thanks. I like Halak just fine but he's not the Bernier/Schneider type I'd spend significant assets on.

I agree that they probably keep both but I don't think it would cost a whole heck of a lot to get him if he was available either.

Gotta feel a little good for St. Louis, playing well and a ton of cap room, hope they make a mark in the playoffs this year ( presuming they don't completely fall apart... )

Their roster is riddled with players I really, really like.

You know what, Halak is younger than Gustavsson. There's absolutely no reason not to take a flyer on him at this point. He could save our season and prove to be the goaltender we need going forward.

Like I said last night, I'd rather continue with the tandem we have than burn good assets on another goaltender. I haven't given up on either Goose or Reimer and there are too many other more dire positions of need to fill. Moreover, while I'm fine with Halak's age, his size doesn't thrill me. Now, if the cost isn't all the bad, I suppose it's something that might work out but I'd fear another Toskalaish situation. Now, if we're talking Schneider/Bernier? I've made it no secret I'd go in that direction.

Sorry, I meant to say his tenure here has felt like a decade already.

I wouldn't like another Toskala-ish-y situation either but Halak is a starter while Tosk just wasn't.

Oh, and Chazz, I forgot about Giggidity when I was talking about goalies that Burke brought in, my mistake. Doesn't really change my opinion a lot though.

Bernier doesn't have nearly the same numbers that Halak has. I'm not really sure where your love affair with Bernier comes from. I really don't think he's in the same league as Halak tbh.

And hey, if it's a Gustavsson + for Halak swap, then why not? Isn't the definition of insanity repeating your mistakes? We've rolled with unproven goaltenders long enough. At least we know Halak should be more than adequate, plus he's only 26 and a year younger than Gustavsson.

Halak might be a good option because I recall the Habs being totally outplayed in all facets of the game and Halak standing on his head. The more shots he faced the better he played.

Probably the same place my love affair for guys like RNH, Adam Larsson, and other top prospects at their respective positions.

According to his numbers, Bernier isn't a top prospect. Tuukka Rask, now there is a top prospect. RNH is destroying his position right now: I think you'd be delusional that Bernier is destroying his position right now.

I'd rather take one in the hand in Halak than two in the bush on Bernier. We've tried to pan for gold way too long and found nothing but rocks.
