It's still just more of the same downward spiral that has the Leafs where they are right now - give up a couple big pieces of the future to plug an immediate hole. Sure, in this case, like with the Kessel deal, it's with a younger guy, but, it's still not the type of move this team should be making when there are cheaper, less expensive options out there that may not be a significant downgrade in terms of talent - especially considering we really have no idea how Schneider would handle being the starting goalie on what is a pretty mediocre Leafs' team. It's much more important that the team focus on improving other areas than it is to take away significant assets from those areas to improve one where the potential solution may already be in the organization (Reimer could bounce back, Scrivens/Rynnas/Owuya might only be a season or two away from starting themselves, etc).
