Willy

What Tavares/Nylander and Matthews/Marner are good at is stringing lots of plays together, each one getting multiple touches to do creative and individually impressive things to get into scoring positions.

Matthews/Marner, to start, get to play with a world-class facilitator in Thornton or a world class forechecker/puck-freer in Hyman, and I think generally Rielly/Brodie at home, who are all good at making puck plays without really wasting the collective effort.

Nylander and Tavares are working with Vesey who can only touch the puck once before imploding, Mikheyev who will definitely shoot from a defenseman's position with his head down, and Bogosian who is... big (and attractive). So a lot of their work is turning into nothing plays most of the game. The ones that have really worked out so far are when they've forced a turnover (i.e. didn't involve too many other teammates).

One of my weirdly favourite things about hockeydb is that you can click on the players picture and it'll scroll through all his ones from previous seasons too.

I'm digging the Joe Dirt vibes. Nylander's stache: Great or greatest?

Five Leafs stuck around for a shooting competition long after practice wrapped up on Tuesday.

Firing on Joseph Woll, the acting backup netminder: Nic Petan, Pierre Engvall, Travis Boyd and William Nylander, the fourth-highest-paid player on the team.

?That was sick!? Woll exclaimed after Nylander flung a shot past him in what seemed like slow motion.

When they were done, Nylander helped his teammates fish all the pucks off the ice and scoop them into a bucket.

?You don?t do the things that he does away from the rink and when people don?t watch if you don?t care and you don?t love the game and you don?t want to get better and you don?t want to help your team win,? Zach Hyman said after Nylander helped the Leafs beat the Flames, 2-1, with two goals, including the overtime winner. ?I think the guys in the locker room know how much he cares and how much he wants to win. But sometimes he just gets misunderstood.?

Which player has the most individual threads about that one person?
Kadri
Andersen
Nylander

Loves the game. Not a natural at defense. Room to grow.

That's good stuff to hear. I did notice that after both goals he was smiling from ear to ear and loving the guys as they celebrated. Awesome to see.

Since last season Nylander is sitting:

8th in NHL scoring with 38 goals and 18th in points.  His possession numbers are up near the top of the league.

Misunderstood seems to be confused with the media creates a target based on artificial reasons and hammer it home regardless of what is happening on the ice.

What site is this from? On NHL.com...Willy is 40th in points with 75, (52nd in P/Gm) and 13th in goals with 38, (23rd in G/Gm). Either way, not too bad.
