Winnik traded to Pittsburgh

I'm inclined to agree with Sluggo -- slightly underwhelmed -- and with CTB when he said it would have been beyond argument if we'd gotten another late-rounder.  But I'm usually underwhelmed by Leafs trades ... so few are clear wins for our side.

Not many trades are clear wins for anyone. That's part and parcel of needing both teams to agree.

Also, I have to ask what changed since this:

Winnik's been great for us but if it's a 2nd or more, abso.

A few weeks ago a second is a no question asked send him out the door trade, now he goes for a second and a fourth(and Sill) and it's underwhelming? And somehow an extra fifth or sixth rounder makes a significant difference in how you'd see this trade?

A second in THIS year's gold mine of a draft, not in NEXT year's gravel pit.  C'mon Nik, try to stay alert to my inner meanings.

I thick you're underselling next year's draft. Also, really, late 2nd rounder in 2015 isn't really all that different from a late 2nd rounder in any draft. 2016 supposedly has similar depth in terms of quality players, just less at the very top. The real goldmine this year is in the first 15 or so picks. By the time you get to around 50th, it's going to be pretty close to average.

Excuse me ...  I staked this claim first.  Go find another lode.

4 Minutes of Sill talking smack to the Leafs team that's about to be blown up, kinda like him.

This Sill guy's a mouthful.  He not only can fight, but can handle a ouck.
Can protect the young uns if he's kept long-term and make the opposition's life miserable.

I have held off my opinion of Sill until now but he played for Moncton and was the same as the kind of player he has been in the NHL and AHL.  He hits like a freight train, challenges the other teams dirty play and backs it up, I like his fighting skill maore than Colton Orr because Zach Sill can throw bombs with both hands and one of the best things is....get this....he actually has enough hockey skill that he won't be hurting his team when he is on the ice.

Like the announcer stated in this video as Sill fights (and beats) 6'3" 225 lbs Stoner, Sill arguably didn't lose a fight in the AHL last year.  Crazy for a 6'0" player!

Winnik got his first point with the Pens last night. Nice pass from behind the net. I wish him well. :)

Like I said above....good night Ott!  $0.55 annual salary, great team mate and will keep opponents honest when they chirp.  Oh....and he throws bombs with BOTH hands.

My first time seeing that fight (missed the early part of the game last night). Wow, Sill destroyed him. I'd like to see Sill kept around for the 4th line next year.

I think Sill is a keeper for the 4th line next year.  I guess we'll see if he can play centre tonight!  ::)

He reminds me of a younger Mike Brown, with maybe a bit more upside, which definitely isn't a bad thing on the 4th line.

Mike Brown was younger when he came to Toronto than Sill is now.
