World Cup Russia 2018

I ref soccer and this diving and feigning has crept into the game all over the world.  I stop it in my games by refusing to stop play of call a foul on an obvious embellisher.  The other players find it amusing and effective when I inform them that it will go dark before I blow my whistle for a guy who wasn't touched. Soccer needs to deal with this poop.

What does anybody think of Neymar Jr.'s antics?  He's had a habit of embellishing his injuries.  He was at it again against Mexico.  It's understood that the opposing Mexican player came over to him, retrieved the ball all the while stepping on Neymar''s ankle.  All this during stoppage in play on the pitch.  Though no foul was initially called before this ensued, Neymar suddenly started screaming in pain.  One could see right through his feigning and over reaction.

Much to the consternation of many in the soccer world, and eapecially the losing side's coach Juan Carlos Osorio who had this to say:

"I think it?s a shame for football. We wasted a lot of time because of one player. We stopped too often. I think this is a very negative example for the world of football and all the children who are following this game..."

Well thank goodness England are out. The "British"* media was getting unbearable.

France v Croatia in the final. Croatia the smallest nation to make the final since 1930. France obviously huge favourites but I actually anticipate a decent game that could go either way.

*the British media tend to forget there's 3 other countries other than England have to watch their TV feeds or listen to their radio shows or read their newspapers so go into overkill on English bias, which tends to drive opposition to England in the other regions. Which is a shame cos for the first time in a while England have a likeable manager and decent players. But that media bias completely puts you against them

Sounds like the Leafs.

Of course the British media is going to have a slant towards England. 85% of the UK's population are in England. Maybe if the rest of the UK could put a team together that could qualify for the World Cup once in a while, they might get some coverage.

I doubt English fans care who the rest of the UK cheers for anyways.

England faces off against Belgium for the third place finish game on Saturday July 14.

France vs Croatia  World Cup Final  Sunday July 15 at 11am on TSN.

Vive la France!  :)

I don't know which is more impressive - iceland qualifying with a 350K population, or Croatia making the final with a 4M population.
