1 Vancouver Canucks vs 8 Los Angeles Kings

Man that 1st period was painful to watch. Like paint drying.
The Nucks are not dynamic anymore. Their flopping like around like a beached whale.
Not pretty.

I think besides my general dislike for the Canucks and many of their fans (ie the ones that rioted) I could easily live with only seeing those green trust fund goofballs for 2 more games this year.

Canucks and Pens -- two teams many predicted making the final and the ones I least expected to be down 2-0.

The Kassian/Hodgson trade looks horrible right now. Vancouver has no secondary scoring.

Last Friday I was at my Aunt's for my family's Easter dinner. My cousin and his wife brought cupcakes and decorated them in Canucks colours and he started bragging about it. My gf looked at him and said "are you that insecure about your team, that you have to decorate your cupcakes in their colours?".

He had no response :-D

As an Amerk the whole Van vs Tor intraCanadian rivalry thing doesn't matter much to me. Having said that, I acknowledge that Van fans are weirdly smug in a way that invites contempt that, say, even Habs fans don't.

But the main reason I am rooting for LA (and for a sweep) is that first round upsets could, potentially, force the losing teams into a more desperate trading posture. The temptation to shake things up will be greater.

That's why even though I hate Philly I hope they sweep the Pens. Ditto Boston over Washington.

I honestly had no idea the goal was even scored until about 30 seconds after.

I wasn't sure myself but the fact that the Kings were celebrating should have at the very least given Hughson pause as he was yelling about what a great save got made.

And that the ref signalled a goal almost right away.

The best part about this is I'm in a pool with a lot of people from out west (it's my Dad's work pool, he wanted help). Of course, they took ALL Canuck players, and I'm fairly certain nobody even has any LA players. I selected mostly LA and NYR as that's my cup pick. Hopefully it pays off.

If Bob Cole had made the call Hughson did on the Kings goal he'd be torn to pieces by his critics.

From what I read on Twitter, Hughson got it pretty good for that.

He was so hurt when he realized the puck was in the net.  Hughson is so unbelievably biased.  He hardly calls the average game with the same energy he does on the National broadcasts.  At least Bob Cole contained his Habs bias for Habs games.

And the angry mob has won.  Cory Schneider starts Game 3 for the Canucks.

I personally don't understand it, as Luongo was easily their best player in the first two games. But hey, whatever makes Luongo available this summer is ok with me.
