Speaking of the ECHL, are the Leafs still working with the Reading Royals?

Yup. Looks like we're sharing them with the Bruins too now.

We aren't still sharing the AHL with Anaheim are we?

Technically, we weren't sharing them with the Ducks. Anaheim didn't have an affiliate so we agreed to have them lend a player or two to the Marlies. But I believe they have an affiliation with Syracuse now so that won't happen again.

Yes according to recent media I've seen. The Bruins also using Reading as their ECHL team.

Never liked head cases. Wouldn't want him on my team. Hey, maybe he'll stay in Europe!!  :)

Avery is done.  There was a time when it looked like he could develop into a 20g 40point pest.  I can't believe Hull gave this guy 4 million a year.

The problem for the Rangers is, if he clears, do you really want to have this guy around your young players in the AHL.  I don't see anyone picking him up after the season he just had.

I hope nobody picks up Avery.  His time in the NHL needs to be over for the good of fans everywhere.

I could see a team taking a flyer on him at the minimum. If he's motivated and less of a distraction he could be an asset. If a team could just release him with no cap consequence then it wouldn't be a terrible risk to take.

I can't believe there were people around here that summer who really wanted the Leafs to sign him.

Maybe, but, I don't believe the Rangers are buying him out, so, that doesn't appear to be a possibility this season.

No, I were simply speculating about whether or not we'd seen the last of Sean Avery in the NHL.

It's a possibility, but, I think it's a long-shot at best. Considering how quickly Dallas rushed to dispose of him, how much he struggled last season, how big an on and off ice distraction he's known to be, etc, I think teams will be more than just a little hesitant to waste their time with him. If he does make it back to the NHL, I don't see it being within the next couple seasons. My concern is that the more time he spends out of the spotlight, the more he'll seek it out if he gets the opportunity.

TSNBobMcKenzie: VAN claims Weise on waivers from NYR. Everyone else from Sunday and Monday cleared. Betts (PHI) and a whack of others on today.

Today's list, from tsn.ca:

Jordan Henry (CGY)
Curtis McElhinney (PHX)
Nathan Oystrick (PHX)
Sean Avery (NYR)
Blair Betts (PHI)
Oskars Bartulis (PHI)
Matt Walker (PHI)
Stu Bickel (NYR)
Brendan Bell (NYR)
Michael Kostka (FLA)
Mike Blunden (MTL)
Mike Moore (SJ)
Victor Oreskovich (VAN)

I think someone takes a chance on Betts, everyone else probably clears.

Wasn't Betts the PK guy a bunch here wanted last year?
